I was told that if i mount the tweeter farther from the mid to go active and if i mount the tweeter close to the mid to go passive and put 200 x 2 @ 4 ohm to it.

Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks

Sorry, i have a Alpine CDA-9813 and it offers 3 way active crossovers. I have always gone passive so this is new to me. I dont mind going passive if my installer can find a place for the tweeter right by the mid.

There is a lot more than just how far the tweeter is from the mid. The acoustics of the car also plays a very important factor. A decision to go active or passive just on distance from the each other is a poor decision. Infact, distance from the ear is more important than distance from each speaker. Then there is also the angling of the speaker and such that also have to be taken into account.

I would recommend to hook it up passive first. If then you don't like it, then move to active.
