Passive and Active set up???

85 amps @ 14.4 volts is 1200 watts. That includes what is needed for the car as well. So assuming this system was as powerful as you imply, that 85amp alt likely wouldn't have liked the situation for very long.
What do you mean long? Milliseconds to seconds long or like weeks to months long? Why didn't you include the reserve capacity in the batt? You speak as tough I'm tapping it for all it's worth, when in reality, I'm doing the opposite...letting the amplification stage easily drive my SPL needs. Just because I had 500 horses under the hood (amp power) doesn't mean I'm going pedal to the floor between red lights.

Then im hoping i will be okay im only running an ALPINE F1 STATUS 4 channel, an alpine MRD M1000 MONO and a Helix HX400 for the midbass.

All in all i finally have sound in the care and im waiting to finish the sub box before the cosmetic work of the trunk begins.

Long as in regular use. Im not gonna guess how long exactly, if that's what you are asking for. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif But again 80 amps is approx 1200 watts. No battery reserve changes that fact. More battery reserve simply means you have longer before your battery reserve runs dry.
Using your example, 500 horses under the hood.... having an 80 amp alt on a high powered daily system is like having 500 hp, but bicycle tires that wont allow you to get the traction you need to use those horses.

If all those 7 amps added up to mostly 'headroom'... as I said earlier in the thread, headroom is power that is NEVER used. So if the system was set up that way, I find it a bit misleading to then suggest to people how you were banging 7 amplifiers on an 80 amp alternator. I could hook 27 amplifiers to the stock alternator on one of my vehicles and leave the gains all artificially low and never turn the volume up past 1/3.... but then I wouldn't go to the boards and brag I can run 27,000 watts or 27 amplifiers (or whatever) off my stock charging system.
