OK, I have had this PAC SWI-JACK for over a year now and it is driving me fucking crazy. It's supposed to allow the use of the audio controls on my steering wheel with an aftermarket H/U, in my case an Alpine CDA-9887.
I've got an '08 Silverado and this PAC SWI-JACK POS works intermittently, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Typically the controls that will sometimes work and sometimes will not are the mute and volume controls. Of course, the ones you use all the fucking time.
I've re-programmed the damn thing I don't know how many times and the folks at PAC tell me to ignore the instructions that tell you to have the ignition in the "ON" postion but to not start the engine. They told me to have the engine running when you program it.
It almost looks as though this thing is very sensitive with regards to the voltage...as it tends to only work well when the overall voltage is around 14v. But the voltage varies as it is controlled by the PCM so it can swing anywhere from 12v to 15.5v.
I suppose I could go to someplace like Missing Link Audio and get one of their modules to keep my voltage steady at 14v+ but I would really like to know if there are other steering wheel audio control modules out there other than PAC or if anyone has any hints/tips?
Thanks, and yes, I'm mad. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif
