.....Cause i just broke the crap out of my factory one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
Been trying for 20+hours to get the nut that holds the positive battery cable to my alternator off, so today i got a 1/4" breaker bar from lowes, welded it to my crow bar, and FINALLY got the nut to turn!!!!!
......Too bad it was welded/corroded to the bolt //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Yup, rather than the nut breaking free, after the gallon or so of pb-blaster i sprayed on it, it just destroyed whatever was holding the bolt to the inside of the alternator, and now it's just wobbling around, with play in every direction //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif This SUCKS.
So now i'm faced with a decision:
I'm def. not going to turn on my car, and see what hell unfolds when that destroyed alternator spins, i'm guessing a huge unshielded field of electricity under my hood, which cannot possibly be good for any of my ecu's sensors, nor the little bit of oil that leaks around my car's aging valve cover gasket. So:
1.) Get a replacement alternator from a rebuilder, or the dealer....
or
2.) Call Dom up tomorrow and order a 240A, but i've heard varying reports of how long it takes to get an alternator from him, and i'm without a car until i get it.........
With my state of financial affairs (a new alternator was in the mix for later this summer, but i sure as hell can't afford one right now, to be honest) it's one or the other ONLY, for a long long long time, so do i take a chance on arrival time with iraggi? Or do i play it safe and get a dealer replacement? Dom, please feel free to chime in if you're on!!!! I really want an upgrade, but i don't know how long i can afford to be without my car!!!
My dad owns the company i work for, so i can borrow the van for a while, but until i get an alternator in there, my audi, and my system, are stranded at work..........
What to do? What to do?
