Ordering a 240A alternator tomorrow!!!!!

Would there be a noticeable difference between two of dom's alternators. One does 220 amp max and 170 amps idle and the other does 240 amps max and 165 amps idle. I'm willing to spend the extra 20 bucks for the extra 20 amps max only if it will be noticeable, thanks guys.

Alright everybody, thanks for the help.

I'll give him a call tomorrow morning, he seems like a really nice guy, i'm sure he'll answer all my questions, so i know i'm getting the right equipment.

I don't think i need 240A for 2300rms, so i'll probably end up going with whatever does more amps at idle.

My car's an automatic, and even on the highway it's chillin' at ~2000 rpms, so i don't think i'd be happy with an alt that needs to be going 4k to make decent power.

And before i destroyed my alt, i could tell my car was a LOT happier with the big-3 upgrade. I didn't have my system hooked up (haven't run the 0 gauge back there yet) but my voltage driving and at idle were higher than they've been since i've owned the car. Def. a nice improvement.

Ok, i kinda suspected it already, but i called to find out for sure.

The higher the output of the three alternators, the lower the idle voltage.

So for an orion 2500D, and a 88w rms x 4 component amp, would you get:

1.) 200A with highest idle voltage?

2.) 220A with middle idle voltage?

3.) 240A with low idle voltage?

Dominick recommended the 220A, cause he said the idle voltage wasn't significantly lower than the 200A alt.

I'm not trying to discredit him, i just want to get as many opinions as possible, if anyone's had a similar setup. So ~2700w rms, 200, 220, 240?

Is 220A enough to power this setup without draw from the battery? Or is going to the 240A going to make enough of a difference to warrant a bit less voltage at idle? He said no matter which one i chose, it would make full voltage by 1800rpms or so anyways, so highway/crusing is a non-issue, it's stricly idle.

Thanks guys. I think i'm gonna order it today if i can get some feedback from you guys before he closes. I just honestly can NOT afford to second guess if it's not enough power. Budget is VERY tight.
