i would seal the sub though. Type R's arent really meant for being ported. If u wana port the Sub i suggest u go with an ED K

Mark ported a pair of SWR-1541Ds for that one guy out in Alberta (I believe it was like 3 ft^3/sub tuned to 27 Hz) with 1600 or 1800 RMS and apparently he was hitting high-140s/low-150s and it suppposedly sounded pretty good, too ...

wow 1800 watts into a tpye R. when u meant more power i'm thinking u meant about 600-700. yea that sub would pound in a ported box tuned low.
