Optimum sub size for rock/metal music

Hey guys, my 4 channel amp is waiting to have 2 of it's channels bridged to run a sub, pics at:

With two channels bridged it will put out 380wrms @ 14.4v @ 4 ohms. I have a few problems, however.

Firstly what is the best size for rock music. I would love to have repsonse, obviously 15" is gonna provide heaps of bass but little definition. I am looking at 10s for two reasons, boot space (again see pics you'll know what i mean) and the great response that they offer, what about 12s? What do you guys recommend? To summarize, i need:

-something good for rock/metal music

-good response

-power handling of roughly 300wrms

-good value for money, max amount i wanna spend is $250 AU

Also my amp is only stable at 4 ohms bridged, as i only want to run one sub, i need something with either a single 4 ohm coil, or dual 2 ohm coils.

Thanks, Luke

well first of all, a 15" can have just as good as response as a 10", thats just a myth that most people believe about car subwoofers. second, 2 10's would be a good fit for you in a sealed box. I'm pretty sure all 3 of these subs can be wired for usage with your amp, but correct me if im wrong.

i think the image dynamics would have the best sq and requires the smallest space, so i would probably go with them. just turn your gain way down on your amp and turn bass boost off on your head unit cuz they only have an rms rating of 150 watts. if you do that you should be fine.

I would worry more about the brand and the box rather than the size of the woofer. I would go with two 10's in a sealed box. A sealed box that is on the large end of what the company recommends. Image Dynamics gets my vote as well, the JL 10W3v2 is pretty good as well.

As someone going through your predicument right now...I would recommend 10's. I just put in a pair of 12" subs running off 400w rms and they are too "boomy" for me personally. I also want more definition. Granted...these arent exactly sq subs I put in..(RF punch hx2's) so thats probably part of my problem. I currently am only running 1 of the 2 as its just too much. I'm making the change to a pair of 10's also.
