opinions on my plan

i was looking. even considering the jl 8w7. focal polyglass 8. cdt (yeah right $$$$$). even the kicker l7 8. trying to find decent power handling.
please ditch the L7. nothing bad about them but im sure youd be much happier with something else. the focals are a good choice, which model? 8w7 is also nice. are you wanting to go the SPL route, or SQL? i thought it was purely spl but now with the w7 focal and cdt it seems like you are wanting some clean, tight sounding bass rather than just boom

i'm kinda open to anything really. good sq. good spl. either would work. i guess a mix would be ideal. i really like the 33v2 polyglass focal, which is a 13. 1.25 cubes ported for a 13 was impressive. thinking about the 21v2. i'd love to get the utopia, but i can't afford that one at all. cdt is too much also. rainbow makes an 8, but low power handling.

what is your max budget for a sub(s) i dont think you ever said that

i'm really open ended on this, which is why i created a thread for ideas. even a small box 10 would probably work. small box is the key, not so much cone size. small ported box to be precise.

well then i guess it all depends on how much space you are willing to give up. once you have determined that exactly, itll be much easier. theres alot more options when you know exactly how much space you have. from there, we can get something for those dimensions, or something smaller but still efficient. wasnt it .5cuft?

yeah. around .5. can probably get to .65 and still be comfortable. that's without port displacement.

what was wrong with the two 8's you had? anything particular? this thread is turning into a mini chatroom lol PM me your aim info
meh. they weren't overly impressive. if you're taliking about the cerwin vega's in my sig. they are now part of my workshop stereo.

this is the focal polyglass 13. 33v2 if memory serves. put it in 1.25 cubes tuned to 34 hz. very nice sound in a small box. went in to a college kids pathfinder. that was the largest recommended box. could have gone all the way down to .75 cubes. displacement makes it a little large for my application though.

Pardon the noobix question....where would one purchase those DD6.5's?
call DD directly. if not there, you would have to get them at an audio shop, ebay, or in the classifieds. id much rather buy them brand new through DD. thats how I got my comps. im sending my money order out on monday for them. just call and talk to somebody about what you want and theyll give you all the details

I don't know what that SPL Blazer kid was talking about with the Daytons, plenty of people run them in the car audio enviorment. Hell I can think of 4 people running the HO's right now.

I think you should do those as not many people really run Dayton.

Good luck with whatever route you go. Should be interesting to say the least.

Must be used in SQ systems. I run SPL competitions and have never seen a Dayton used in any system. I've heard of them in home audio, but never in car audio. Maybe some people use them in SQ systems, but SQ comps are a dead sport so you'd never see them being shown off.

i already did the spl subs, but then i got an RE MX. been on more of an sq kick ever since. i still like loud though. dayton and tang band sound really nice in home audio applications. i wish tang band made their 6.5 inch subs to handle more power. i'd run those in my truck in a second.
