opinions on clarion hxd10

The hx-d10 is a very nice looking, great sounding deck. The local shop only sold 4 of them, and I believe they all came back with issues. Too bad you weren't looking for one a few years ago, Crutchfield blew them out for $299 and then like $269(and that is authorized).

I bought a NIB HX-D10 on EBay about 9 months ago ($125). The first unit I received would not accept CD's, gave an error code for damaged CD. This was with a brand new CD.

Disappointed, but that is one of the issues I had read about in the "reviews" I had found.

Fortunately it was a good seller who replaced the unit with another. The second unit has worked flawlessy since installed. Very clean, dynamic music. Of course that will also depend on the speakers and amp. I was using Morel coaxes.

Not loaded with all the latest "features" but does what I want quite well.

Not sure I would have bought at the price in your link though.

On the DPH910, I had also seen that listing. Looked attractive, but in researching one of the complaints I found was the very limited high pass/low pass settings (50/80/120). Not real flexible. I passed on it.

If it is reliable, it is certainly worth what he might pay. The guts of that deck are better than most. It just doesn't have a ton of features(like my 8250).

In my first post I meant that, at the $235 price in the link, I would have to think about it. At the $125 I paid, I didn't hesitate. Fine SQ deck.

At $70 for the pair, it's a excellent buy if you don't need all the extras. I would just confirm that it hasn't had the "reject CD" problem.
