opinions on an active system

As it stands now i have a 100.4 and ~ 250 dollars and im looking for opinions on what to do for an active system. I been looking at Peerless Exculsive 8's, Dayton RS 8's, or Rainbow SLC W165 Kick. Also was looking at Peerless HDS's tweeter or maybe Rainbow CAL25's. Just looking for some insite here.

Just installed a set of the CAL25's mated to a pair of AA poly mids. Sounds very nice...

Make sure you get tweeters that will xover low enough for the RS mids as they want to be low passed around 1800-2500. Don't think the CAL's will play that low.

Check diyma and see what tweeters guys are using with the RS mids.

The CAL 25 Silk VOF tweeter plays pretty low. The frequency response on that tweeter is 1000 - 30000 Hz and has a fs 820hz. Also rainbow recomends that tweeter be crossovered around 2000hz. Im going to cross the mids at 50hz or 60hz HP and 2000hz LP, and the tweets at 2000hp.

Honestly even the RS 7" is a hard match with a large format tweeter, nonetheless a small format... It wants a minimum of 2200hz but a 1800hz xover is best... The 8" is even rougher.

The AA poly should mate well though at a bit of a higher freq.

I dont recommend those woofers for 2way with a small format of any kind either.

That tweeter is not good for lower than 2200hz 24 db . Also if that 8" is door mounted, where you are counting for off axis midrange quality, you'll see very little if any with overall beaming issues.
