One sub in a hatch? Any Suggestions

I used to have an accord and i just got a integra 2 door (hatchback). I had 2 shivas in a sealed box and loved the way the sounded. I think I am sadly going to have to go with only one in my new car. What would be the best way to set up the sub in the back? Should I make a box that faces the sub up toward the hatch (hitting the glass) or should i just have it face the the rear of the car. Since it is a hatch and doesnt have a trunk to go through, I'm not sure what would get me the best results.

Most people will say pointing it towards the rear is the best way, although I can't say I can really tell the difference. If your subs make a slapping noise (tinsel lead slap), it's best to point them away from your ears so that when the waves come back, that slap will more than likely no longer be audible.

In my Explorer, I've played with the positions at various angles and couldn't tell an audible difference in either spl or sq.

Try it both ways, see which one yields a better response. That's probably the best idea.

P.S.- what are you going to do with the other Shiva? I wouldn't mind taking it off of your hands if you are going to sell it...

I guess I could just build a box and find out what sounds the best. How big are the sealed boxes for shivas supposed to be, isnt it like 1.5-2 cf?

I think you should put a sub, for instance like my 13' w7 jl audio were the sub box is built into the back seat in my eclipse but you have to make the box go threw the seat. But with a car like yours i would hate to ruin the back seat. There is a seat that i got from a audio seller in San Fran that has the hole for the sub. I spent 2,000 on the biotch.

Just for shits and giggles try this out by removing the back seat!
