One Day Wall... *pics inside*

no, you wont kill a speaker by not giving it enough power, you will kill it by having an amplifier that cant give enough power, and turning it up too high.

I should have been a little more clear about the tests in my post. I believe they were grossly underpowering the subs. Like using 50w amps on 500rms subs. Just to prove that underpowering cannot blow a sub.

exactly, the test was completely pointless.

in reality, you're more likely to kill a 100watt speaker, with a 75watt amp, than you would be to kill it with a 150watt amp.

but its not "under powering" them that kills them, its overdriving the amp.

True that. Everybody got sick of hearing people say that underpowering could blow a sub so they did just to shut everyone up about it.

no

its not

its sending a clipped signal to the subs from the amp, which, in reality, creates dc to the vc's on the sub, overheating them and melting, causing bad smells and frowns

the amp itself has nothing to do with the death of the speaker, its the fact that tards will try and use a 100 watt amp to be loud as hell.. when they realize that their little amp isnt doing what they wanted, they crank the gain and the input signal levels, thus clipping, and frying the vc, not by underpowering it

ah, its by running an underpowered amp!

are you a f*cking moron or something?

let me try again..

a 30 watt amp sending a clean unclipped signal to a speaker that is rated to handle 8kwrms by a respectable manuf will not be damaged

neither will a speaker rated to handle 50wrms

clipping the shit out if will still not damage the 8kwrms sub

but it will probably kill the 50 watt sub.. not because of underpowerering but because of the square fuc king wave that some retard is sending to the speaker

nevermind

there is so much information for this exact debate out there that if you were gonna look into it seriously, you would have already.. be content with your ignorance all you want, i wish I had a better vocabulary in this area to debate more.. but if all your going to say is huh - uh. im right

then nevermind, go on with your way of thinking

its still the amplifier thats killing them though!
someone ehre was trying to say that sendig a sub a clipped signal wont kill it
well, if the sub can handle the square wave, it wont, if I put a little sony 300 watt max amp on a shocker sig, it wont even break a swet if I have 8 volt preouts and max the gain, although the sony amp may.. well... explode, but if i did the same to some legacy piece of shit, it would probably kill it,

aggreed?

maybe its an arguement of semantics here...

if so... nevermind

Jesus, now I have to clear up another issue in this thread. Really Death By Bass, you need to learn to control your threads better.

Underpowering a speaker has never, and will never, kill a speaker. Period. Clear enough? You all talk about 'underpowering' a speaker with a clipped amp... if you clip a 75 watt amp into a 100 watt speaker, you are now producing well over 75 watts (or 100 watts) and thus not 'underpowering' anything. As I said 2-3 pages back, 2 things and 2 things alone kill speakers... mechanical failure, and thermal failure. That's it. You did not blow the 'underpowered' speaker because of distortion, you blew it because you clipped your amp and OVERPOWERED your speaker.

This aint rocket science folks.

lol, the fact that it creates one massive blind spot behind you, and gets really annoying when you're trying to negotiate peak hour traffic... lol
And to think, I was questioning your knowledge of what constitutes a 'wall'. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif I wont make the mistake of over-estimating your knowledge again.
