One Day Wall... *pics inside*

Well then again I apologize. I am ALWAYS willing to learn new things. I was big into audio a few years back on the circuit and this was THE BELIEF between everybody at the time. But I guess also it makes sense that the amplifier puts out more power and that is why everybody associated with distortion. they have 800 watt amp on 800 watt sub fine then they cranked everything and it blows like bass boost. so bass boost doesn't hurt anything? ???? ALso again sorry for causing such a ruckus . Again I typically don't argue in this manor. But typically I am never wrong lol( but this time I was and I think it had to do with a lot of the old school things I learned)I always did wonder how bass boost make the sub LOUDER without increasing wattage lol. Again sorry just this has been my belief for so long I was a bit stubborn on it. Sometimes old beliefs die hard. shrugs And honestly I really am the 2003 meca MR5 world record holder.I guess when companies say the sub can handle less when distorted is due to for example.... If they have a 700 watt sub. they say will handle 700 clean watts or 400 dirty... but that is because they are going by amplifier ratings. and that 400 watt amp probably will put out 700. and a 700 watt amp if you clip the signal might put out 1000 to 1100 rms. Ok I got ya now. sorry again

Vehement, my attitude was unnecessary. Although I knew I was correct, I could have come off alot better in telling you. For that I apologize.

lol, you're not wrong though vehement, so why are you apologizing? :s
And yet when its time to put up or shut up, you run away. You do realize I've called you out, like a little punk, at least twice in this thread, right? Everyone here has seen you run for the hills every time Ive asked you to back up anything you claim. In the end, you have nothing but hot air and lame attempts to get under people's skin. Im lol'ing at you right now.

Effects of clipping

In power amplifiers, the signal from an amplifier operating in clipping has two characteristics that could damage a connected loudspeaker:

* Because the clipped waveform has more area underneath it than the smaller unclipped waveform, the amplifier produces more power. This extra power can cause damage to any part of the loudspeaker, including the woofer, tweeter, or crossover, via overheating or overexcursion.

* In the frequency domain, clipping produces strong harmonics in the high-frequency range. Extra high-frequency weighting of a signal is more likely to damage a tweeter than a signal that was not clipped. However most loudspeakers are designed to handle signals with abundant high frequencies, like cymbal crashes, which have a greater high-pitch frequency weighting than amplifier clipping could produce. Therefore damage attributable to this characteristic is rare.

Other effects of clipping include:

* When applied to a musical signal, the clipping may prevent a note from decaying in a normal amount of time. This can cause rapidly played notes to blend together.

* Music which is clipped experiences amplitude compression, whereby all notes begin to sound equally loud as loud notes are being clipped to the same output level as softer notes.

(NOW THIS IS STRAIT OUT OF THE BOOK)

NOW with that being said I can see why it is believed distortion blows speakers including why I thought it. cause wow my sub handled my 800 watt amp fine with 3/4 gain then I cranked the gain and bass boost and it blew. Must have been distortion.

BUT I still stick by my statement that it is a wall lol. Just a crappy built one.

I do not know which 'book' that is straight out of, but notice that it says 'this extra power can cause damage to any part of the loudspeaker'. Therefore again, 'underpowering' is not a culprit in blowing a speaker. My statement/sig is 100% correct.

Its okay, some people just refuse to admit they dont really know what a wall is. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

no, I haven't run anywhere, some people have jobs you know dipshit

I'm not going to argue with you anymore, because clearly you're one of those dumb yanks we talk about at work a bit, afterall, there's nothing dumber than a dumb yank.

but, I will do a test, and I will prove you wrong, but I'm really in no hurry to prove to an idiot that he's an idiot.

You aren't gonna argue with me anymore? You never have. lol And I wont be holding my breath waiting for your test to prove the impossible.
Its funny your 'job' only seems to be an issue when you are backed into a corner. And the time you wasted explaining why you haven't proven yourself, could have been spent proving yourself. But oh that's right, you'll do that some day. lol

The whole dumb yank thing... you cant even read my profile corretly. You are pathetic.

Some people just do NOT understand power....AT ALL. And by some, I mean at least 95% of the people in car audio.

Clipping, distortion, George W. Bush, etc. does not damage a speaker....only power does.

Death By Bass has proven himself incompetent on many occasions already....tell me again how "Ohm" is short for Ohmega.
