Well, I just picked up this old rockford fosgate punch 15. It's a dual 4 coil and it is in very good condition (except for the fact the spiders are so too weak as you can see in the pics). I free-aired it and it sounded good and there wasn't any scratching noises, but I really want to recone it. So now the question is, where can I get a recone for this thing?! I was surprised at how big the magnet is for a punch, and so far, I can't find any info on this thing, or even seen any pics of people running these subs. So anyones help would be very appreciated.

I want to put this thing in my sister-in-laws car (GTP) but as you can see from the pics, the suspension it drooping just sitting there. I think this thing is a pretty b.a. sub, but I really want to find a recone kit for it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I ran a few different sizes of those 'back in the day' when they were new, including the 12" version. They were... okay. Efficient as hell, got loud off a couple hundred watts each and a ported box. Not all that musical though. The 8" version was a pretty neat looking little sub.

They were RF's entry-level sub 10 years ago. They cost about $125 bnib from a dealer w/ warranty back then, so they aren't worth much these days. I just gave my last pair away not too long ago. Unless you are really nostalgic, dont put too much effort into reconing them. Even entry-level subs today are better, generally speaking. And if you are nostalgic, look for a Power Series from that era instead.

Load it in a box and see what happens. If it blows, toss it in the trash and replace it with something better that cost like 50 bucks from partsexpress. *shrug*

I've never done a recone before so I thought I would get this thing and try it. It looks like a stout enough woofer to be reconed. But then again, I might just get a cheap sub off partsexpress if I change my mind. I free aired this thing and it sounded ok so now the next step is to make a quick box for it and see what happens.
