I had an mtx amp ahipped to me and the gain got broken in shipping also

It will have to be replaced to work...you should be able to find a replacement fairly eaily....

its a potentiometer...it is what is used in amps to adjust the gains...crossovers...bass boost etc...it is basically a varible resistor....

Ah ok, so that's why it said something like 5k 10 printed on the gain from inside the amp.

From the looks of it, it looks like maybe the rod is bent. Its worth a shot to just open her up and see what was actually damaged if any.

It's definately busted, the amp was not handled well by USPS. Also the gain knob spins freely and twists/turns in every directions.

Groggy23 happened to have some spare parts, so as soon I get it and open up the amp, i'll know exactly how bad it is.
