Hello,

I have had a CDT HD 5.25" Components running great for 7 years, but now one of the mid woofers doesn't want to work. I am guessing my best best is to find a new pair of Mid-woofers. I don't want to spend too much on these, hopefully stay under $100. Power handling isn't too important, I am going to buy a new amp also, so will match. Had 100 each side to the old ones. Will have 50 -100 per side this time.

Thanks!!

No thanks, ideally want to spend somewhere around $50-75 if I can find a nice closeout or clearance somewhere. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

well i'm getting a set for my truck ,to upgrade my current cdt component mids, which are in great shape and about 4 months old , to these. i need the mids and tweets to take 175 rms each side , so they will be up for sale, for 75 shipped.[ my old set of mids]

Just some new midwoofers to replace the ones in the component system. I'm guessing that keeping the midranges the same is the best way to do it, outside of being able to find a matching speaker (not even going to try haha) Want to go with 5 1/4" so I can just plug and play.

Use a dmm to see exactly what ohm load your good mid is. If you don't find something that's close to that same load, then your crossover point for the mid is going to change.
Could you please either elaborate or give me a link to somewhere that explains this a little more?

I wasn't a CDT Audio dealer 7 years ago but they're almost certainly 4 Ohm mids. That's the industry standard. Put your DMM on Ohms and put one lead on each of the speaker wire terminals with no wires connected.
