Ok wtf is the problem?

I'm bout to **** it up and take it to a shop. When the car in ACC it plays, when the engine is on it is very distored, constant notes on subs and speakers.

Tryed a whole different set of RCAs, my amp grounds are good, wtf??

Unplug the RCA's from the headunit, but leave them plugged into the amplifier and then start the car. Maybe the RCA's are routed near something in your vehicle that they're picking up noise from.

My 2nd suggestion would be to power the system from an external source (Ipod, walkman, etc) connected directly into the inputs of the amp and see if the problem persist. Radio shack should carry the necessary adaptors to convert the outputs of an Ipod/walkman to standard RCA outputs.

I unplugged the RCAs from the HU and turned it on, no noise at all.

I played the speaker amp from my ipod directly, worked fine, same with my subs.

Now what? (appreciate it very much)

cd player is picking up noise? the last 5700 i had had alt whine problems... switched it out for another unit and it was like it was never there

also i switched it out for another 5700

Ahhh... you have a 5700 eh...

Installed quite a few of those @ the shop...

Had experience with two of them that were bad right out of the box... switched for a new one... no noise.

So ya'll think the whole problem including the whine and the weird thing it does when the car is on all lays in the HU. (I been looking for an excuse to get that Eclipse HU with time alignment and all those goodies).
