ok need opinions--have pics!!

squeak is right, think of it this way, if they are in the middle of your car, the "sound" is only getting to the right side of your ear for the driver, and the left side for the passenger. It will NOT sound the way you think...

then what should he do with them? let em rot?

why not play with them. i mean, sure it wont be optimal, but he cant do doors, and he cant do kicks. why upgrade to components if they have nowhere to go?

He could put comps in the door....but he doesn't want to. I've done it before (put comps in the doors of a car with no previous door speakers and no wires ran through the door). It's not hard.....but, that's his choice.

So, he's just going to have to deal with the dash speakers. I'd rather deal with the tiny dash speakers rather than screw the stereo up worse by putting sounds that should be in stereo in the middle of my car in mono.

i would consider selling the 6's and gettin a couple of powered woofers to go under the seats, and maybe upgrading the components and amp them as well. You would be suprised how good the amped woofers sound under the seats..

well. TBH, i think it would be fun to play around. and if it were me, id prolly put 6.5's in the doors.

wait, im putting 8's in my doors. go figure. but i would still play with them just for fun. even if it did end up sounding bad, i would like to know what "sounding bad" was from your description squeak, it sounds like his car will be the apocalypse of the universe if those speakers go in the middle //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

well, some people could argue the fact of buying comps and building door pods is a waste of time too.

No one said that he had to build door pods for the comps. Just a simple baffle to hold the driver.

And if someone is going to argue that spending a single afternoon making a baffle and installing 6.5" comps properly in the doors is a waste compared to using little 3.5's in the dash.....then that person is an idiot, plain and simple.

why not build door pods? not cut holes in the doors..but build external pods? that why he would have the depth he needs without interfering with any window mechanism and he would be able to use both drivers and have stereo sound at the edges firing in.

before u say it's too much work..it wouldn't be much more then what ur considering now.

the only downside would be the door panel would now have attachment holes on it somewhere....

all im saying is this;

1. he didnt wanna mess with his doors because of the reasons he has previously stated (read his posts)

2. he didnt wanna build kicks because of the reasons he has previously stated (read his posts)

3. he has these speakers

4. his midbass is lacking in the frequency range he posted

5. its fun to play with speakers

if it were me, doors or kicks would be the way to go, in fact, thats exactally what im doing. but he has REASONS for wanting to try somthing else. its not a waste of time to learn from mistakes and understand WHY speakers in the center sound "bad", its not the same as reading or someone telling you.

if i had free time, id test all kinds of crazy stuff... but i dont. if he does, lets hear what his results are.

im not saying fiberglass it to test. just build some small wood boxes and prop them in place and see if he likes it. thats all.

ur right on most of this...but

why waste time? if he already had the enclosures built, then i could understand. but it's been shown that to the masses (sq being subjective) and the fact that midbass is stereo...he won't like the sound.

in the end, he's going to do what he wants...if he wants to throw one in the middle to see what it sounds like, great. maybe he'll like the sound. who knows? but like squeak, sound and i have mentioned, chances are he isn't...so why go thru the effort? just to hear? i guess...man i'm being repetitive....lol...

btw...

he didn't want to cut holes for speakers in his doors..what i suggested wouldn't require any metal work....basicly just boxes for his doors.....which wouldn't amount to much more work then what he's going after now....meaning, say he builds a temp box..likes the sound...does he build another finish box or go about incorperating teh temp box to look good? or does he build a finish box the first time and hope he likes the sound? if he doesn't, now he has to start over somewhere else....money and time wasted both ways..IMO

i was thinking more along the lines of just a single chamber box with two holes in it. run the subs in stereo, and put it in the middle of the car. just see how it sounds.

i dont see how you could build 'addon' boxes to the door without altering it in any way. theres going to be holes cut sometime... and there are also no gromets to the interior- so he would have to buy some stuff to make the speaker wires protected between the door and the door jamb.

look. im only saying that it would be fun for me. and i would try it because i like to build things and test things out. im not saying it would sound good or bad. but if the reason is because "$10 of MDF and a few hours of time" are wasted, thats pretty lame.

and you go thru effort to learn. at least thats how ive learned all my fiberglassing, the first one didnt turn out as good as i had hoped, so i did it 3 more times. and now im confident enough to build anything with fiberglass. thats how the world works.

does that make any sense?

ok here is the deal----there is NO room in my dors for comps----NONE.

i need to find a place to put these---my sound has a big hole in it that needs to filled.
