ok need opinions--have pics!!

no comps just a set of memphis pr 3.5" coax's in the dash set of memphis crystal quartz 1" tweets on the pillars and subs in the trunk. actually the ssf on my subs will be set at 30 and will top out at 80 hz.

ok i have a pair of jl audio 6W0 subs and i want to install them up front somewhere but really just don't have the room so this is what i might try:

i need to build a small enclosure that has .175cf net displacement. does anyone think this won't work very well with just 1 sub?

btw--this sub will be specifically tuned to play from 120hz-275hz.i called jl and they said the cutoff for this model was at 300hz max.
glass them as far back as you can mount them - driver side facing driver and passanger facing passanger. put them as close to the console area as possible, and glass underneath and around to get enough room inside.

if you do it right, that should be a killer 3way frontstage, but its gonna sound weird until you tune it correct.

take a picture so i can see how much room is under the dash there - how tall that gap is between the axle-hump and the bottom of the ashtray thing.

You are wanting that 6W0 to play midbass frequencies, not subbass frequencies. Midbass is stereo, and is noticeably stereo. You would have a single, mono, midbass driver. See the problem with it???

IMO, don't do it. If you were truly playing it as a sub, it'd be a good idea. But don't play it in the frequencies range you have planned, because then it is a midbass driver, which needs to be in stereo, not mono.

Sell those things off along with your dash speakers and buy a good comp set if you are lacking midbass output.

Because it's not an experiment.....it's a pretty well known fact; it'll sound like poop to anyone with half an idea of how music should sound. There is a reason why we call our systems "stereos".....it's because it is supposed to be played in stereo //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/idea.gif.5acb6a39a9b92425414c316dda202bad.gif not mono

he said he had two of them if im not mistaken //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

if i am.

then i agree, unless you have TWO of these in STEREO, then dont do it.

why does he *need* to? thats somthing that we *want* to accomplish to get the best sounding midbass. its not a rule that has to happen. he said he is lacking in that freq range he is gonna cutoff, and so he bandpasses these there. maybe it will sound better. remember, every car is different and everyone likes different things. if it were me. and i had some spare wood to try with a STEREO TWO CHANNEL AMP, two extra 6" drivers, an active bandpass xover, and lacking midbass... id try it.

So heck....why do we even bother with putting speakers in doors and whatnot. Why not just put all of our speakers right smack dab in the middle of our car! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/idea.gif.5acb6a39a9b92425414c316dda202bad.gif

If he is going to run them both in the middle of the car, then he might as well run them mono. You ain't going to get stereo sound with two speakers right in the middle of the car. I'd still advise against it. Like I said, anyone with half an idea of how music should sound won't like it.
