so im having a problem with my new set up (in sig). im almost 100% sure its not from the subs themselves. they both play fine at low volumes, no rubbing sounds or anything. problem starts to occur once i get up to higher volumes, even when the remote gain is still as low as possible. it sorta sounds like the subs are bottoming out. at first i thought it was just happening with one of them. i was trouble shooting and playing with the SSF and LPF on the amp, thinking maybe it was bottoming out. it sounds like the sub is bottoming out, but im not entirely sure thats what it is. i brought the gain back down to zero (after setting it with a DMM), and then turned it up a tad bit from there. whats really weird is that now im getting this sound from both subs. to make it even more odd, they'll never do it at the same time. if i play a song one sub will make this sound on one note, then itll go back to normal then on another note the other sub will make this sound. its the weirdest thing. its like they alternate making the sound. they never do it at the same time yet its a mono amp, so its not like it could be a problem with the chanell.. it almost sounds like its coming right from the dust cap, but they are both glued down tight, no movement.

ive pushed on both subs and i dont feel any rubbing, dont hear any rubbing, they dont feel like they're getting caught up at all. i dont smell any coils burning. i get a 1.2 ohm reading with my DMM (the .2 im guessing is just impedance rise?) im convinced its not the coils. BTW, they're dual 1 ohm VC's.

im running it off a sundown SAZ3000D. i bought this amp on here, supposedly used once, just to make sure it works. im sorta leaning towards the problem being the amplifier now.

any one ever heard of anything like this? im trying to get in contact with the guy i bought the amp from right now. im also trying to find someone local with an o-scope so i can see if im getting any clipping. maybe something happened to the amp that its sending out a "dirty" or clipped signal of some type?

im at a loss right now, and im not sure what else to look at. ive gone over every connection and ground. im going to try a friends audioque 2200D amp sometime this week and see if i have a problem with that. im also going to try another head unit, maybe that could be the problem. just figured id try and get a little insight before hand. id like to try and get a video up as well, but im not sure if my cameras gunna pick up this sound or not.

i was thinking possibly tinsel slap, but like i said, it alternates on subs, and only really happens on one or two notes. and the tinsel is tied down to the spider, except fo at the very end.

ive been adjusting the SSF and the LPF a lot, trying to get this sound to go away, but the sound occurs regardless of where they're set. the box is sealed up well (no leaks0 and braced well.

BTW, if anybody on Long Island reads this and wants to take a look or even has an o-scope i could use, just lmk and ill drive out to you. im desperate.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

and let me add that jacob is doing his best to help me out. great customer service, always replies back to me in a timely manner and i really appreciate all of his help. im just trying to get some insight from other people besides just the two of us.
