not applying sub level in EQ

i was kinda wondering if there was any way to set up my deck (alpine 9855) so that when i turn on EQ (like rock, rap... etc) it only affects my interior speakers and not my sub... subs are fine on "flat" and they sound good with NO clipping but when i turn on an eq to accentuate vocals and what not on certain music types it also messes with my subs and i get distortion from my subs.... i like being able to use the EQ but i dont want my subs to clip. is there any way to make EQ apply to speakers only and not subs?

Go into the user EQ setting instead of using the presets?

and that would let me set it up custom eq and should let me set it to where those setting dont effect the signal to the subs?

Yes...IIRC, the 9855 has a 5-band parametric EQ, same as the '35? You can tune that lower band so it's out of the subbass region and above the crossover point...
