newbie - system help!!

hi, i am new to this forum and wanted to know if i could get some help. i am looking for a really nice system to put in my car, i just dont know what to buy. i have a 2001 vw golf. right now i just got a pioneer 7800 head unit and i have new front and rear speakers (kicker kx series components).

i want to get 1 or 2 subs. from what i have heard, i perfer the sound of a sealed box. i listen to a lot of alternative and rock music, some rap and some punk so i want more accuracy in the bass then it just being loud. i really want these subs to hit hard.

i have a hook up for kicker amps, i like the speakers and i heard their amps are really nice too, good assumption? i think the model is a 350.4 that i was going to get for the speakers and i was looking at the 1500.1 or 1000.1 for the subs.

please leave whatever adivce you have. i am not on a tight budget but i dont have cash flowing out of my pockets either.

thanks in advance

hey, sorry I missed your post. welcome to our humble lil home! LOL

yea, the KX or ZX3504 will do fine for a set of compoenets and some rear fill. I'd get that with the ZX10001, adn two DVC 2's on the Kicker CVX 12's. Do them in 1.25 per woofer, sealed. this will offer great bass, yet not require a ton of space. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

the cvx? really? i had the chance to hear one of them, in a 1.2 sealed cubic foot box with the kicker 400 mono and it sounded horrible. i didnt like one thing about it.

could it have been the box? or just not enough power? i read they take like 800 watts, so wouldnt the 1500.1 be better?

and would you recomend a sub from another company? i thought kicker subs were all about bass and being loud. i want it to hit hard but be clean sound.

so it must have been a lack of power?

1.25 cubic feet per sub would be good?

how do the comp vx compare to eclispe sw8200 subs??

or the JBL power series (p1222 i think)??

or JL W6's??

also, i wound be willing to go with a single sub and make it ported as long as i knew the it would still have an acurate, quality sound. what would you recomend if i went this route?

depends, not enough power for sure, sealed IMHO, plus what amp, what settings on the amp, etc,etc

all subs are about bass, but properly installed, all can sound good, or sound terrible.

i think it was the kicker 700.5 the 420watts on the 5th channel. gain was probably about 80%...

how would you comapre the cvx to the sw8200 from eclipse?
