Newbie - I need a little help please!

Hey guys, new here.

I have a 2003 ford f350 crew cab. i have a kenwood ddx712 headunit, amped door speakers and a 1000 watt ma audio amp powering two kicker subs.

My problem is i had a cheap amp and subs in before and put them in my girlfirneds truck, i bought the new ma audio amp and subs off line and hooked them up EXACTLY like my old ones were and they dont work, amp has power, green light is on not red. the gain is all the way up and the bass control on the head unit is all the way up also and the subs are just brley moving. every now and agian you could hear them kick on but nnnnnooooooo where near how they should.

Can anyone help?

Bad amp. Settings on HU are all the way down. Your amp is most likely the problem. That 1000W is not what it really is. Id take the amp out and switch it back with your original one. Im sure the GF wont mind. HAHAHA

I do have a shitty amp sitting here i can try switching out to see if it works....this amp is brand new... : (

what site did you buy your amp from? and how do you have your subs wired inside the box?

amp just off ebay. my cousin has the same amp but 2 channels not 4 and his hits awsome.

I just have a positive and a negitive comming from the terminals inside to box to the subs.

I hooked up my chity 400w amp and nothing, green light comes on but thats it, dont even get a tiny little thump like i did before.

i find it hard to beleive both subs, BRAND NEW and they both arrived bad....

I wonder if there is anyone close to me on this site that wouldnt mind meeting up to help me. the two car audio places around me charge like 50 bucks just to look at it and say it isnt working!

what ohm load do you have the subs wired for? are they dual voice coil?

these subs are not dual voice coil but my old ones were.....And......I dont think I can answer the ohm load....I know almost nothing about electronics....

You need to check the ohm load of the subs with a DMM. Being single VC, they should read ~4ohm. They may be bad. Try the old subs with the MA, see if they work. If so then the subs, if not your amp.
