Newbie here, need some help

im pretty much a newb when it comes to car audio, but im interested in getting my jeep sport all up to par. i was curious if anyone had any suggestions on what i should look into? im looking to spend within 300-500. thanks alot, helps greatly appreciated.

I recommend getting the HU and speakers first, then amp & sub(s).

you can find a decent HU on craigslist most likely, or get mine bnib for a reasonable price

The thing that ends up costing the most is buying stuff too quickly and then realizing it is not right for you and having to sell and it buy other stuff. Seriously. Although, sometimes it is unavoidable because you just have to hear it first.

As far as amps I would look at a 5 channel for your system. I use an eclipse xa5000, it is a SOLID option. Otherwise if you go with a separate amp for your sub(s), Kicker has some solid, but affordable options in their ZX series. I used to run a ZX300.1 to an Infinity Perfect 12 and it sounded really good and got pretty loud too.
