Most of the better Korean amps are very reliable at 1 ohm these days and most folks couldn't hear the difference. OP is on a budget and probably can't afford a bigger amp than he needs to run at higher impedence.New to amps? Hmmm...
First off; running at 1ohm sounds like garbage. Sure, you're amp is making more power but it'll sound really sloppy...like your amp isn't big enough. And with the wild impedance swings sub have with program, you'll be throwing away said amp within 1 year.
Those subs; what are they? Did you already buy them? If you didn't...hold off. A good amp will make lower end subs (if in the right box) sound pretty **** good and get pretty loud. But good subs off of a $150 flea market grade amp? It'll sound like crap. Always invest in a good amp as it's the heart & soul of any system. A $150 amp with a 2000w sticker on it is probably not a good amp.
I wold also reccomend not cheaping out on an amp. Buy something good (used for preference) and if you don't abuse it it will hold re-sale value when you're ready to upgrade or just try something different.
