New to amps, need help

I'm investing in 2 SA d2 10's and was wondering what a good amp would be. This is my first set up, and am trying to keep it cheaper. If theres any amp that will work with this for under $200 or even $150, that'd be sweet. I'd like to buy new, but if its too expensive I guess I could go used.

Thanks for the help.

best buy sells expensive amps for what they are mainly used for. read more about amps and prices of them (crescendo, audiopipe, audioque, sundown audio..etc)

'off brand' amps>mainstream brands any given day.

I haven't bought the subs yet, and the seller hasn't responded, but is 2 ohms bad? If done some research on the different ohms, but didn't think it made that big of a difference. If I got 4 ohm subs, would the amp be cheaper? lol

There are just a lot more amps that produce max power @ 1 ohm so you have more to choose from. Well at least more in the price range you seem to be looking for, like the MB Quarts, Hifonics, audiopipe, etc.

Why are you buying these nice subs but trying to get an amp from bestbuy? Have you already bought your subs yet? If not get them in D4 and look into audiopipe or mb quart for budget amps
1 ohm? then how come he says get the d4's? Are 4's more common too? (I'm not trying to argue, just understand. Honestly I'm not really getting the different ohm-ages for each amp)

I figured that out after reading all over this site //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I started out wanting to buy a box and amp at the bestbuy, but realize all you people know how to make a good system. I'm just trying my best to figure it all out, and put it together. And I really appreciate everyone's help.

Just from the way you'd wire up dual 4 ohms, makes it easier to find an amp for your budget. The subwoofer is exactly the same, it's just that, for your set-up, Dual 4 ohms would best.

But if you are stuck with the 2ohms then the Kicker amp suggested above is a good place to start.

New to amps? Hmmm...

First off; running at 1ohm sounds like garbage. Sure, you're amp is making more power but it'll sound really sloppy...like your amp isn't big enough. And with the wild impedance swings sub have with program, you'll be throwing away said amp within 1 year.

Those subs; what are they? Did you already buy them? If you didn't...hold off. A good amp will make lower end subs (if in the right box) sound pretty **** good and get pretty loud. But good subs off of a $150 flea market grade amp? It'll sound like crap. Always invest in a good amp as it's the heart & soul of any system. A $150 amp with a 2000w sticker on it is probably not a good amp.
