a friend of mine is wanting to get a new stereo, now he has a truck so he will only be using 2 pairs of speakers. my question is if the head unit is a 4 channel can you just combine 2 channels to help power the speakers? and is there a way that only running 2 speakers could hurt the deck?

No, you dont want to bridge (combine_ the speaker outs.......

all he has to do is connect only the front, or rear, left and right speakers, and keep the other 2 speaker outs taped up....or...just make sure they dont ground anywhere.

so if he only uses 2 channels like that (say its a 4 channel amp(deck) with 20rms going to each), is he only going to get the 20rms to each speaker ? or will it be smart and give him the 40rms to each its capable of
