New system, wtf am I hearing?

What I got is in the sig (all new) and what I'm hearing kinda sounds like a scratchy cd, but it's something I've never heard before from any of my cd's. I heard it in all the cd's I played tonight, none of these cd's skip or have made really noticable scratchy sounds before. The sounds I guess could also be described as kinda like the scratchy sounds you'd hear a lot back in the record days.

Only thing I can think is maybe the CDT's are making these things more noticable? Or could it be something o do with the hu? Maybe I could try one of those cd cleaner kits? Or are they worthless?

And thoughts\ideas are greatly appreciated //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It could be lots of things. The rcas and power cords could be too close to each other, the laser of the HU is dirty, the speakers arent getting a clean signal, could be a faulty deck...did you have stock speakers before you had the CDTs? Did they work fine? It's basically play with everything until you find a solution, it's just like taking a broken computer and finding the problem, if you installed it, use your knowledge to think of what you might have done wrong or what you could do better at.

any of your speaker wires shorting out? i know when i retardedly let the CC guy install a cd player *for free* he totally **** up the install and left bare wire to my frint 2 speakers hanging behind the HU .... they never played. when i got home i looked and the wires are all shorting out and messing up.

wow ..... what a deal i got for free!! i cant imagien paying. took the dud elike 2 hrs too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

I ran my main 4 guage power wire on the other side of the car the side that the rca's are on. Unless maybe the power wire going to my mids/highs amps is too close....I'll check.

The hu is new, wouldn't think it'd be dirty already, could try to clean it though.

Stock speakers weren't worth listening to, and my stock hu was really messed up so I didn't listen to it much at all. It was making some bad static when listening to radio stations....thought it was a loose connection for the antena, maybe it was or maybe it's a porblem that I still have? It was a tape player hu and it sounded like it wanted to eat tapes, so I didn't use it. Basically it was hard to judge sq from that thing since it was so f'd up...but maybe it was showing the problem all along?

I'll double check the wiring, but it should be fine.

You did run ALL the power wires on the opposite side of the car that you ran your RCA's right ??

Also, you did run ALL new wires for speakers too right ? Factory wires **** !!

One more question....... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif

Where did you ground your new head unit ??

The ground wire in the factory harness is NOT an adequate ground. I ran my headunit ground wire back to the trunk and grounded it in the same place that my amps are grounded.......NO MORE NOISE..... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Yes, I had noise before that.

hhhmmm....I did ground where the factory ground was.....

and actually the power wires from the amp to the speakers is run right along with the rca's as well as the amp turn on wire. When I here people say run the power wire on the opposite side of the car, I only thought of my 4 guage power wire for my amps.

I did use a lil bit of factory wire for the speakers that go from the speaker to my crossovers. From the crossovers to the amp is new wire.

Well, ground your deck somewhere else, run your pwr wires away from your rca's, and I guess factory isn't the worst thing out of the 3 but I would still run your own aftermarket spkr wire. Just me.
