New System wiring help

Ok basically i got bit by the bug to upgrade my system i already have 2 sets of components running 100x4 and 2 8s running 150x2. I am going with 2 diamond d6 12s and an orion 1200d. What i need to know is if i buy a 160 amp alternator and do the big three will this be enough upgrade to the electrical system or will i need something else. Also why i s everyone against caps. I have never used one but the more i read about them people seem to not like them. why is this.

A cap is just another load on a weak electrical system. Basically just another small battery. If you have a good electrical system you wont need a cap.

What car and alt to you have now?

It is a 98 civic and they have a 75amp alternator stock it dims my lights pretty good with the weak setup i have now

I would definatly look into an alt upgrade. 160a alt should work just fine for you.

Retail shops are expenice as hell. Try weldingsupply.com, knuconcepts.com(may be spelled wong), darvex.com

Yes, I couldn't believe it either!

Last night I found back by their battery dept. a red 51 inch 2 gauge wire with ring terminals on both ends for ~ $8 something!

The package said EverStart battery cable. I guess it would work for short power runs or maybe big 3?
