its time to get a new system. im looking for the whole setup. speakers box amp. was either wanting 2 12" or 2 15" subs. anyone got any ideas. got about roughly 5-700 to spend. looking for something that you will hear far away. something that will POUND. anyone got any suggestions?

$5-700 typically will not POUND if you have to buy the COMPLETE system for that much.

do you need a HU? mids/highs? extra battery? wiring? ...or just amps and subs (and box)?

Get a good headphone amp and a pair of headphones.

here is whats great about that: You can turn it up WAY loud ... loud enough to cause serious hearing damage and no one else (myself included) has to hear your crap "pound...from far away." its like the best of both worlds. In fact, i'll even help you install the system!

I wasnt questioning your equipment, but just subs and amps arent necessarily your entire system. Once you start calculating the other shit, it ends up being more than your $230. I was trying to figure out what pieces of equipment he needed.

Well if you want something loud then get some power acoustik mofo 15"s and one of their 4000watt BAMF amps. Build a big box for about $50

If you like more defined bass (and lower) you can get a soundsplinter rl-p 12"

http://www.soundsplinter.com/rlp12_subwoofer_information.html (D2 wire for 1ohm or 2xD4 @1ohm) perhaps a 15" if your willing to spend more,

and a 2000watt BAMF amp (or 4kw and turn the gains down for lower distortion)

and build a 5cuft box tuned to 25hz

both systems should hit the 140db+ range on the cheap. However the MOFOs are going to be louder (2x 15" vs 1x12") while the rl-p"s are going to be tighter and lower.

thanks zack and linkz for the useful information. others are just dumb. and like i stated speakers amp and box. not head unit. if i needed a head unit i would have put something stating i need one.

subs and amp is not a system. Subs, amp, and HU is not a system. There are a lot of things that money has to buy if you're looking for a full system.

Wiring

The deadening and wiring alone will eat up about $200 or more if you get decent stuff. You're better off buying a couple pieces at a time as you get the money. If you're starting from scratch, I would put that $700 towards an HU and a good substage. Get something larger, like a 15 or 18" to get more volume for the money.

its cool i was just under the impression he was talking about adding a "substage" and thats what i have spent on the 2 12's box amp wire and alll the HU ,componets componet amp .. add to that but still have less that 600 in my entire system ... it was bought for a temporary setup and sisnt anticipate how loud it would be .. and its really good and loud for the amount i spent .. i mean its no super spl setup but it hits nice and its clean

wow. let me rephrase all of this... im looking for only SUBWOOFERS, AMP, BOX. that is all. no head unit. no wiring. no batterys. no anything exept 2 12" subwoofers or 2 15" subwoofers. a box to put it in if its 15's cause i got a dual 12" box and then a good amp to power the speakers.

get a MJ-18M make a ported box for it box will be about ~$50 with this amp http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_8843_Power+Acoustik+OV2-2200.html

not that good of an amp but you dont have that much $$... I have just the old MJ-18 in 4cu.ft @31hz and I'm in the low 140db's as for HU it's up to you that's just what I would buy with ~$350
