New System Opinion

You can't go wrong with that. It'd be definitely pretty impressive. Don't bother with a capacitor. Get a big second battery and a strong first one. 120 amp alt is fairly big, but may look into a bigger HO one. Do the batteries, and the Big 3, first, before however, and if and only if you have problems, look into the alternator.

The XXX is a big improvement in cost vs quality over the w7. And the sundown amp is powerful, and pretty nice. I'd take that equipment over the JL any day of the week. More power, and just as much (if not more) cone area. It'd be louder, too.

Make sure you have the room though. You're looking at a big box. Possibly built inside the trunk, unlikely you could fit it through the trunk opening. If you really want it loud, do a 4th order bandpass, removing the rear speakers and porting it through those.

lol i have so much trouble trying to find a sub, but those xxx's needed so much space they would be a pain in the *** to install the box or build it in the car, so i figured i might step it down a level and just go with two 12" RE MX's which looked decent, but which amp would be better, a MD2D, an XT4000v2(both us amps) or get that sundown 2000d or maybe just get a 3000d and split it for both subs?

A few quick points:

The 18" XXX would require quite a bit of engenuity in your trunk. Even then it may not fit.

You could do the MX, but the RD subs that've been mentioned sound better.

US Amps' MD series is pretty nice, but they're expensive for what they are (unless you can find a really good deal).

US Amps' XT series is entry level equipment.

Sundown is solid.

Are you even slightly concerned with component speakers and electrical upgrades, or are you fixated on subs alone?

well the audi had all bose speakers in it at the moment, so im not planning on changing it until they blow or something, and as for electrical i plan on running the big 3, possibly a 150amp alternator(biggest i could find for an A6) and I have a friend who works at deka batteries, so hes hooking me up with a batt thats as good as a yellowtop for my main, and some really big batt he said would be good for car audio.

rd's nuts must be blue by now, never seen such riding of them in a long while.

i'd say don't spend any money until you clearly decide what you want, listening to people on here for suggestions is fine.. but it's going to be you listening to it everyday, i'd at least get what I wanted and not what others THINK would do good..

Those Bose speakers aren't nearly as good as you think they are. Component upgrades will be a must if you want decent performance.

I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

yeah i will end up replacing them im sure, i just figured id see how they sound with the subs hooked up too, and if theyre way shitty just go ahead and get some nice components //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Seriously, bro. You're talking about dropping $3 - $4k on a sound system, but you want to skimp out on comps in favor of a factory Bose system. The front stage is of dire importance if you're at all concerned with sound quality.
