hey guys i came across some free stuff. KICKER cvr12 sub and a VALOR VPA404 1000-watt 4-channel amp. im not too great on wiring up dvc subs so i dont know if i can run these together.

will these be compatable together?

amps stats:

-class a/b mosfet circuitry

-low and high level inputs, frequency adjust range: 20hz-40khz

-4 x 100w rms at 4-ohm, 4 x 150w rms at 2-ohm, 2 x 500w max at 4-ohm

sub stats:

-Dual 4-ohm dual voice coil

-RMS Power 400 watts

-Peak power 800 watts

-Frequency response 25-500 Hz

also i have a stock head unit but i want to run a line out converter so i can get a signal for the amp, any suggestions on which wires to splice into? 2000 ford ranger.

true bro...get a mono amp(much better for a woofer)...you wont get much out of this amp for your woofer...if i was you i would use this for mids and highs...and i would listen to everybody in here...they know what they talking about

hmm, crap. i just built a box for the sub too. now i have to go and blow another 200 bux for an amp. so it wouldnt work with the valor amp?

also about the line out converter, how do i figure out what wires to splice and where do i get a signal for the remote from? sorry for all the questions.

for the remote?...what type of car you running?..ill guide you threw and help ya out..

its 2000 ford ranger.

i have the stock cd player.

i wanted to keep the stock look and i actually like the stock head unit.

i heard i have to wire the LOC on the rear speaker wires to get a signal.

need color codes if possible.

the amp and stuff was free so i kinda wanted a budget system, its my winter truck.

As for getting the signal via stock deck, just jump into the Left -+ and Right -+ speaker wire, its pretty simple. If you have too you could also just tap into the right side only, it will still produce the bass you need but its not proper.

Bridge channels 1 and 2 together with one voicecoil. Bridge 3 and 4 together for the second voicecoil on the woofer.

Each of those channels should be at a 4ohm load. It wont be the best idea, but since you have it set in your mind to use it, do it as well as possible. Be sure to set your gains correctly. LPF, Subsonic if the amplifier has it, everything.

Best of luck.

alright so i need a line out converter still right? then i just look up the wire colors and tap into those for the signal right? what about hte remote? can i just use the switched 12v source my deck is using?? and just splice into that?
