I will be buying a Phoenix Gold RSDC 122 12" http://www.rodinaudio.com/pgMobile/featured.php subwoofer and i will be giving it 500wRMS in a 3 cuft ported box tuned at 29hz.

What do you guys think of this subwoofer and do you think it will deliver some tight chest feeling bass?

When i say chest bass i mean you can feel the vibration inside of your chest cavity.. I have been after this kind of bass for a long time and have only felt it in one or two builds but never my own or my friends.

Edit: I have heard some Kicker CVR's 12" in a sealed box and a ported one and i think they sound like garbage.. More SPL if you ask me, no tight bass what so ever.

I doubt it.. you have a decent sized box for that sub, but what car is it in? I doubt you'll get what your talkin about with that though.. just my $.02.. especially if your slighty UNDERpowering it..
And what does that have to do with anything? Whether he gets the desired effect or not is going to depend more on box size and tuning than it will on whether he runs 500W or 600W...

That being said, do you think my 3 cuft ported box will produce what i want with that phoenix gold subwoofer?

If not what box should i use or make for that subwoofer to get my desired effect.

Thanks, i pm'd him. hopefully i get a response soon.

If it helps, i have a ford taurus lx 1995. The car has leather interior and it doesnt rattle with the last few subs i had in it.

Its a ported box. And today I just won a sound comp with them. Beat a guy that had two rockford fosgate 15" t1's. Everyone thought I was running bigger subs but then I just said I was running 10's, they were amazed. And they thought it was too much bass.

Well the first enclosures I put them in were tuned to 33hz. Now they are in a enclosure tuned to 39 or 40hz. I noticed a pretty good gain in loudness and didn't seem to lose any sound quality. Sounds very good for how its tuned. I know someone else that has it tuned high also and likes the sound quality out of it.
