Hollow Sound from MOJO?

I have a 12" Memphis MOJO DVC 2ohm powered by a Kicker ZX1000...I know its only 500RMS at 4Ohms but it is making a horrible hollow sound...the box is ported and I am pretty much clueless on tuning the amp. Any help? Could it be my ground or Battery or Alternator I have never changed either and their stock in a 06 Mustang.

It looks like this thing is slamming if you just look at it, but all it does it barely put out any bass...it doesn't "BUMP", sounds like it is a tweeter trying to put out alot of bass. It sounds empty.

Are you playing below tuning? Sound like an issue with the box, or the sub bottoming out, unless you are familiar with subs bottoming out and are sure its not that.

Nah...lol I just got into speakers...I had 2 PR Memphis and wanted to go bigger and got the MOJO...then I put it in and it just sound worse then the the PRs.

I just hooked everything up today..and it sounded like that right off the back.

Is it your amp clipping the **** out of it? Does it sound better if you turn your gains down?

Yea...it sounds alot better with it tuned down, not better but deep.

Also, the box is kind of shallow...I think the magnet of the MOJO might be like 2 inches away from the bottom if it matters.

my cousin had his fi q 10" in a box with the pole vent too close to the back wall and it made the sub quieter and sounded like tensil slap when the sub hit. If you have either of those two symptoms it might be too close.

it could be a bad box for the sub combo, and your amp isnt powering the subs they way they need to be AND or you could have the subs wired wrong and have them wired at 8ohm on the amp so there geting shit for power.....

Actually, it very well may be wired wrong. I'd almost be willing to bet that it's wired in parallel, but out of phase vs. being wired in a series. Who installed it?

maybe try hooking up neg to pos and pos to neg.

I Hooked upp all my self....Would it work if I just hooked up two voice coils?

Since each coil is 2ohm, could I just hook up to one side and leave the other unhooked?
