New SQ AMPS.

Oh, and if 24V is better than 12V.....then home audio amps must be vastly superior to lowly car audio.

120V > 24V

OK maybe I should have clarified and said that The Goal of the amps design is to achieve very high SQ. Until the production models are actually available for testing, then I wont really know.

But that is the goal and the prototypes show good promise of that, and I cant wait to get some because I am very interested in them and I had thought others would be too.

Most home audio/pro audio gear is vastly superior. Or at the very least, vastly more expensive.

Sorry, I don't buy it. Even the "lowly" SQ of Sundown amps surpasses the abilities of human hearing. Many tests have been done on this, even double blind and guess what, people can't reliably pick one mid range amp from a super high end amp, the limits of human hearing can be reached by even pretty mediocre quality equipment.

Well SQ is subjective I guess.

And if thats true then these amps can be called SQ amps just for the fact that they are not super powerful for SPL.

Personally I have heard differences in quality in amps but they were greatly mismatched. Sony vs. Helix.

I bet a fair amount of that difference you heard was placebo effect.

ever hear a tube amp?
A difference can indeed be heard.
Completely different beast my friend. I am talking solid state hear, and yes I have heard tube amps, I don't like them, if I want distortion I'll buy cheap speakers, not an extremely overpriced amp.

class D mono.

But if there truly is no audible difference between different 2 ch and 4 ch amps. Then why do manufactures use varying qualities of components, conductors, and designs?

What would be the point of spending tens of thousands of dollars on R and D and toolings to build new amps and higher end amps when you can just use a basic Kenwood?

Seriously, I have never heard anyone say that you cannot hear a difference in amps.

I can see how low quality speakers can mask the differences. But what about using a perfectly tuned set of Focals or something?

I did not say ALL amps have the same SQ, but in listening tests, not ones where participants know what they are listening too, any amp that is of decent quality will sound very close and more than likely you will not hear a difference. Most research being done isn't even in the actual amp sections anymore, it is in making things more efficient as well as reducing heat and other things. Look at any major home audio amp, I bet the core amp section has changed very little in 10 years, but all the other electronics around it are what is changing.

That's totally going in my sig! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Sorry, "SQ" is not subjective. We can and do measure amp qualities that we know influence the sound of an amp. In fact, knowing this it's very easy to make your "SQ amp" sound no better than something 1/10th it's price.

Human perception is 100% subjective as we place sound on the waves that hit our ears. The "SQ" you're talking about is in your head and that is a fact.
