ha, actually I just did that a couple weeks ago.

My buddy is in a heavy metal band and was playing out at an outdoor venue. I was sitting in my car listening to the band and then rolled up my windows and played his CD with the same song they were playing.

I have to say that I thought my car sounded better because they are a heavy metal band and turn there guitar amps up to distortion and they did not do that when they recorded the CD. and I do not like distortion in my car.

But there has to be a difference between cheap basic amps vs. High end amps designed for high SQ.

Why does there have to be a difference in sound?

Because you would like there to be a difference?

Because it would be nice if there was a difference in order to help justify the price?

Because you don't want to feel lied to be all of these companies and their "SQ" amp claims?

Because you don't want to know that people could fool themselves, or lie to themselves by drawing conclusions from highly uncontrolled "tests"?

Some people dont need books written by someone with an opinion to decide what sound is...

It would be nice if some people would educate themselves to understand why it is they hear what they hear, rather than randomly attributing the difference to what they would like the cause to be, however........

I tend to equate SQ to sound perception, which is totally subjective.

I can see the problem here.

It seems like it always comes to this. Perhaps we can shorten the "debate" by forcing OP to define SQ. Once we know he doesn't know wtf he is talking about, we can save time by not debating amp charactertistics.

For what its worth, SQ is overrated. I'd prefer inaccurate, but pleasing to accurate but not-so-much. I didn't care for many of the SQ cars at IASCA WF last year.

Finally someone who is totally honest and realizes what's really going on!

BL - SQ can be measured. Signal in vs. signal out. What is pleasing to a person is a whole different ballgame and has nothing to do with SQ.

Because it's hugely overhyped.
If ECA wasn't down/gone, werewolf had a great thread discussing the differences of the cases.

Being "TO3" won't inherently make it "better".

Like everything else, they have advantages and disadvantages.

Its funny how all the haters still come on here to respond and give opinions of something that they have never seen or heard.I do not have details and the amps are not even built yet. But I have talked to people that have tested some prototypes and I got excited that there will be a new high end amp being made.

If some of you do not like high end equipment, then oh well, you are entitled to enjoy your overpriced and under quality equipment.

Some of you are really smart guys and I am surprised that you are so judgmental without having your own data.

i take it that this is your defensive arguement after the realization that all the smart highly intelligent reputable diyma regulars who have facts and truth in their remarks completely denounced this new hyped product

second point. if you think all these hater's 1. have overpriced underquality equipment then you making a fool of your self, because most of us use diy drivers and understand that true sound quality is almost 90% in the install and tuning and only 10% the equipment. and 2. if you have high end equipment and dont know how to use it you again make a fool of yourself.
