New shit from JL Audio for 2007

You are into loud. We know that you are. You have just made my point for me. Thank you.Brax and Helix amps cost 2x that of the JLs but no one says they're overpriced. There's a difference between expensive and overpriced. One day you'll have enough life experience to know the difference. How many really well installed and tuned JL setups have you heard? How many expertly installed and tuned setups using whatever equipment have you heard? A hack of an installer and/or tuner can make even the best speakers sound like trash.

That said, most of the salemen at JL dealers I have met in the last few years have been clowns. But I have the general opinion of most salesmen. Most only have a basic knowlege of what they are selling. If I need something though (last thing I did involving JL was a recone on 3 of my 10W6s that had been in a car wreck) I establish right up front that I know exactly what I want and/or need and they don't go for the ball-gag and handcuffs. At the same time the dealers are out to make money and JL is one of the hottest car audio products on the market for the last few years. In this respect JL supports them well because JL realized early on that lack of knowlege concerning their product and its use would lead to unhappy customers and bad WOM advertising. Those of you that have been around here know full well how you rarely hear about the many good experiences with a company, but if there is one bad one (even if it isn't the companies fault) it spreads like wildfire and instantly the company has a bad rep. As such JL goes to great lengths to make sure that their dealer network is up to speed on how to best use their product. I know that they used to have a huge manual that the installer got that listed enclosure specs for every driver that they made. Not just one enclosure but many, so the installer could tailor the sub response to the customer and the vehicle. Also included was a mechanical power rating for each particular setup. I don't know of another company that supports their dealer network nearly as well as JL does.

In most markets, JL is as high-end as you will find. I'm in Vegas, a fairly large and still growing market and there are no dealers for the overwhelming majority of companies that I would place above JL in terms of quality. As such, you have to expect a lot of the product to be out there. People got money, they want the best they can get locally because they have no clue how to install it themselves, you get the picture. You also have to figure that for every educated consumer in the realm of car audio there are probably 200 that are totally clueless. Of those that are clueless, odds are that several of those will fall into the obnoxious idiot category that will brag about whatever gear they happen to have insisting that "It's the best eva, yo!" If you guage the quality of a product solely on the quality of the "obnoxious ***-clown" segment of users, then all products **** cause every one of them has end users that fall into that category.
Yep... Loud with SQ. Exactly what I'm into. Which is why I run Mags.

I will call Tru, Brax, and Helix all overpriced. The difference? Their Class D's arent 50% efficent and I still would not buy one when I can get great SQ from companies like Sundown.

Efficency and price aside, EVERYONE thinks the 1000/1 is the all mighty. The point being there is equal good and better for the same price or less. Which is ALL my point is.

The JL installs I've heard? Everything from a kid putting woofers in plywood boxes and hacked up doors to high end JL installs by certified JL installers to DIYers who know their way around stereo. Componets and subs. I, myself have helped out with several w6v2 and w7 installs and the w712's and 13's just dont go with my ears. I have no idea why, but they do not.

The rest I can pretty much agree with.

i never said it's better, i only said it has good reviews for a lesser cost //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
And Boss has "good reviews" from many people and are less expensive than most amplifiers on the market.

I'm failing to see your point? Especially behind the "$400.00-$500.00, I don't think so." comment?

i surrender

i like their products, good quality etc..

but, after having their components and amp failing on me, especially with light usage

i'm reluctant to get anything else

maybe it's just "user error", which i highly doubt it

You had a low impedance light come on with your 500/5 you said?

Sounds as if it was wired wrong to me.
