I'm wiring up a new system with no head unit. I need a single amp to power my 6x9's and sub, but the amp needs to have a 3.5mm jack so I can hook up my Iphone/Ipod directly to the amp to control sound.

6x9 - JL Audio C2-690tx Evolution Series 6"x9" 3-way car speakers (15-125 watts RMS power range (225 watts peak power)

Sub - Kicker 40TCWS104 - 4ohm (power handling: 50-300 watts RMS (600 watts peak power)

I prefer to use a single amp and am looking for any suggestions to properly power this setup. I'd like to spend under $300 on the amp if possible. Any help is appreciated.

Ok, how about a 3.5 mini to RCA cable hooked directly to amp?

I assume I need a 5 channel amp to have a direct sub hook-up?

I also have a new set of 3.5" Kicker's I can hook up.

just buy a **** $20 used kenwood headunit with an aux from ebay and a 4 channel amp and save yourself all this trouble. get the ppi 900.4 you can run the 6x9's with channel 1&2 and the sub with 3&4 bridged.

I'm putting this system in a 1958 truck and refuse to cut up my dash. The retro radio that I'll be using that fits in the factory location doesn't come out until February, so I'm trying to make something work between now and then.

thats the thing, 5 channel needs 6 pairs of RCA outputs, you cannot just plug an aux to rca splitter in only 1 out of 3 pairs of inputs and expect everything to work.

As said before, look up a clarion EQS746, You plug in a 3.5mm to RCA splitter into the AUX in and you have enough signal output for all 3 pairs of RCAs

Yes, the Retro-Sound unit is what I'm going with. However, the specific face plate for my year of truck is on back order until February, so the retailers will not ship the units until the face plates are in stock. I have a hole in my dash already for a stock style radio and the interior is painted, so I'm not going to go back and fill the hole now, repaint it, etc., just to put a hidden head unit in. I want to utilize the factory cutouts, which the Retro Sound unit will achieve. I also do not want an empty hole in my dash where the original radio would have gone.

I can run with no radio until the units ship, or I can find a way to run a system until I get my new head unit. The Clarion EQ linked above may be my best option, unless anyone else has a better idea? It could easily be sold afterwards to recoup the out of pocket costs now.
