i got an sx from a guy on here, said it was nib but it was actualy built by teampsi (didnt know that) and i got a second new off ebay. they just got here today and the only real differance i see is the voice coils look differant. the built one is noticably shorter. ohm reading on the built one is 2.03 and the new one is 2.3. im waiting and answer from teampsi about it but im wondering if i might mess up one of the subs if im running these together, sealed box (just for now), on the same amp. any thoughts b4 i power these up?

so what do you guys think, do i need a differant sub?
Yes, unfortunately you do. You can try running both of em, but you are probably going to end up with at least one blown sub.

Think about it, if one sub has less resistance, it is going to receive more power, and move more. Even if they don't blow, you are probably going to have some cancellation. The spiders could be of different numbers or stiffness.

I'd definitely try to get a refund from the guy you bought the sub from who advertised it as NIB if it was reconed by Team Psi.

they should be fine.... i had a pair of SX 12s in a ported box and one had a blown voice coil and i ran it like that for MONTHS with no problems. it sounded FINE and put up a 154.4 on the a/c even with a blown coil... so with the slight difference in power your subs will be seeing, i guarantee it won't be a big deal...

any more input?
People more intelligent then myself have told me that it was not a good idea to do. I posted a question a while back on Fi's forums about mixing a copper coil Fi SSD with a regular coil SSD and I believe Scott (the owner/designer of Fi) said it was not a good idea to do.

Try it and see if you have any problems I guess, but if you blow a sub or something you were warned.

They guy will probably have messed up response and group delay but it won't physically damage the subs....

who sold you the 'NIB' sub ? sounds like a POS seller to me... be sure to leave feedback...

Ding ding ding.
Like said before, these are basically two different subs you want to run together. For music, Id never recommend it. But for SPL, I doubt it matters as much.

To the OP, are you really gonna take advice from someone who just advised its perfectly fine to run one of your subs with a blown coil?

i wont say who it is just yet. if he refuses to take it back then im sure ill make a big deal out of it. how do you think a return should go? should he pay for paypal fees and shipping so i get my full money back or am i screwed on shipping?

im hoping that teampsi will have an sx to match mine and let me just trade him straight up
