New member seeking advice.

Hello, i just purchased a 16 chrysler 200s. It came with the 9 speaker alpine stereo. I purchased a dual sub box from custom enclosures on ebay. Alternator is stock, my goal is to take the signal from the stock subwoofer and use it on the after market. I am purchased a 4 ga copper wiring kit. My goal right now is to find a good subwoofer to amp match. I do plan to replace the door speakers but not at the moment.

Here is where I am confused.

How do I correctly take the subwoofer signal and hook it to the amp.

I think I need one of the AudioControl LC2i.

I would like to get what i need for under 800 if possible.

Here are the specs for the box I purchased.

Thank you

Chad

- Holds 2 12" subwoofers]

- 1.15 cubic ft / chamber

- 8.75" mounting depth

The audiocontrol or any line out converter would work for your case, but the audiocontrol will do a better job.

As far as subs to suit the box... Your very limited as that box is pretty small, so unless you are willing to flip the subs and have the motors stick out of the box to gain more space...

You are limited to lowend cheaper subs since it is a ported box.

Have you looked into any brands that you like?

As far as amp goes it depends on the subs you get before that can be recommended, also you will need atleast a 1/0 gauge power kit for the amp. That 4 gauge wont be enough unless its going to be used for a door speaker amp.

Thank you for the quick reply. I have not begun installing my power cable so I could switch/upgrade to a bigger cable.

The box is not ported it is sealed total it is 2.3 cubic ft. I have always been partial to rockford fosgate.

This is what I have been looking at.

mybad over looked the box specs, Being on a stock system that sub would work great or any JL audio.

You have a big budget and really the sub amp wont need more then 1200 watts if that for sealed.

So if I go with that sub. I linked an amp I am looking at. I am confused on how ron wire it correctly. The ohm choices are confusing me.

Thank you

no u need a mono block class d amp for subs idk about rockville they were liked here for a while but some peeps had problems with them i'd get it from thier site i think the have 90 day return.. if u get a mono 1 ohm stable amp and 1 sub u need d2 sub to wire it to 1 ohm if u get 2 subs u need d4 subs wired to 2 ohm each =1 ohm load.. other amps around that are better but more $ than that.. just slow down and look around some before buying sub or amp.. so u do want 2 subs in sealed box right?

yes, it is a 2 12 inch sub box. Thanks
I dont see an issue with that amp working, the rms rating would either be 1400 or 2800 4 ohm bridged.

So you would need two d4 subs to wire it 4 ohm, which that rockford is fine.

If you want the amp to last a bit longer and possibly produced better power i would look for a class d as grandpa mentioned, but its totally up to what you feel like doing.

You can always upgrade later on as you see how it all works out and you will be way under your budget.

What does d4 stand for?

dual voice coil 4ohm d2 is dual 2 ohm.. yes u can get 2 d4 subs wire each to 8ohm which = 4 ohm load bridge 2 channel amp to it.. reason i said mono block d class same reason we always use them is they use less power than a a/b amp..

Because this could be a good deal if I can get them down to 250 or so.
