New Guy, Lots of Questions!

Ok guys, I am not really new to car audio, just been out of it for a little while. I went from having a 4-door accord with unlimited space in the trunk, to a 95 standard cab, bench seat f-150, that has VERY limited room!

I had 2 12" Adire Audio Shiva's on a JBL 600.1 sealed, then the tinsel leads broke on it, so I got 2 Alpine Type R's, which I didn't really like, but possibly because I wasn't giving them the power they deserved. They just didn't get real loud. Plus I liked the idea of people wanting to know what you have, because it sounds so good, and you pop the trunk and they have never heard of them before.

Ok guys, am I rambling??? Anyways, when I traded the car for the truck, I took the Type R's to the pawn shop real quick so I could trade them for a cheap CD Player, which I did, so that I could keep the Pioneer 7600MP(? I think, it is about 3 years old) that was in the car for the truck, and besides there was no way the Type R's were gunna fit back there!

So I went and bought a universal sub box, that is 8 inches at the bottom, which is still too much room, because I don't have too much to work with and 2 Pioneer TS-W300R 12" subs, which didn't sound half bad, for a $30 sub, I mean come on!!!

Well anyways, I decided to take them out, I am giving one to a friend, and the other is going to my girlfriends car, and I am also going back to the audio shop to see if they have a used single 12" box that I can trade the dual 12" truck box for, for the g/f's car. Her car also got broken into, in ATL, where she goes to school and her Pioneer CD-Player stolen out. So I put her crackes dash all back togethor with my 7600? CD Player, and put an old Pioneer in mine, which just gives me that much more reason to upgrade!

I am weird, and want all of my system to compromise of the same brand. The only decks I have ever owned were Pioneers, besides my first, which was an Alpine. I was going to just go the Pioneer route with their Shallow Mount Sub, but their amps just won't push the dang thing. I emailed them and they recommend their 3000 watt premier amp, of course you do for $400!

Anyways, the following is what I am thinking of, and want everyone's oppinion! Keep in mind that the amp and sub will be housed in a small fiberglass box behind the seat (sealed).

Head Unit: Kenwood Excelon KDC-X889

Sub: Kenwood Excelon KFC-XW1202DVC 5 6/15" Mounting Depth (I listen to mostly rock now days, would a 10 or an 8 sound better?)

Amp: Kenwood Excelon KAC-X811D

Would this be an ok setup guys??? I have never heard kenwoods or dealt with them, but their stuff seems promising, and fairly priced.

Any and all info would be GREAT! Sorry for boring you guys!!!

doing your whole system in one brand is really dumb. cuz thats pretty much narrows it down to eclipse, prioneer, audiobahn, kenwood, sony, clarion and alpine, and i think panasonic, but i dont think they make amps

I know I know, and I also know that each company has certain areas that excel better, like Pioneer's Head Units.

But the new Excelon line of HU's, amps, and subs don't look that bad at all, as from what I can tell!

Kenwood's Excelon headunits are quite nice, especially the XXV-01D (25th anniversary edition). The oversized 10 and 12 inch subwoofers are also good performers. As far as amps go, the 25th anniversary amps are good as well.

Is there anywhere online to get the 25th anniversary stuff??? Or do I have to go to a brick and mortor?

Welcome to the forum brother man. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif You say your going to the local shop. Do they sell the kenwood items you are interested in ? If so tell them your plans, and see what they can do for you to demo the products. All the opinions in the world won't mean anything, if the end result sounds like a$$ to your ears //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
