ok i know i said i'd write a review on the alternator later but i have to just say a little quick something so you all will know..

car - mitsubishi eclpise gts

before today

jlaudio 1000.1 (regulated power supply)

phoenix gold 75x4 (shitty power supply)

2 1 farad caps

85 alt stock

now

jlaudio 1000.1 (regulated power supply)

phoenix gold 75x4

2 1 farad caps

180 alt custom

ok i join the forum do whatever everyone says don't do and i get a cap anyways

actually i get 2 now whether they help is not for me to say so im' not goin there

i shop around for an alt for 11 months .. some refer dom he charges 350 and everyone says he has issues, esp dealing with a 3 month warranty

i call up ohio generators they're talking about 600 bucks

i looked at local shops they say 1000+ IF they could do it

i called up excessive amperage - couldn't do it

i called up some cat in alabama and he says he couldn't do it

i called up some other places and pretty much everyone tells me i have to get a custom one done

i joined a few eclipse forums and found a recommendation to mr alternator so i called them up

they gave me a quote at about 280+ or somethin w/ a 1 yr warranty.

i got installed today

i got big three done today after asking a million questions in the other thread

lets just say its worth every dime

don't be like me and try to cheat your way around it

don't be like me and try to hold out

if youre going to go big w/power u HAVE to upgrade your stuff

battery, alternator, and big 3 - hell i say caps too but that last part is just me talkin ish*

anyways i noticed a big differnet in power as far as sub output - my sub sounds a lot more in depth - i suppose "full" is a better term. well my car drives better too. inoticed that when i drive down the road before and i was beating down the block like i always do, sometimes my car would seem like its a mustang or something meaning it felt like a POS. after upgrading the alt now i feel the power I had when i first got the **** thing.

to sum things up - GET AN ALT. LISTEN TO THESE GUYS AND DO IT.

GET THE BIG 3

GET A YELLOW TOP OR SOMETHING TOO

THE LONGER U WAIT THE LONGER U'RE JUST RESTRCITING YOURSELF FROM HAVING SOMET TOP NOTCH STUFF.

real review to come in about 6 months

kurt - i'm switch lanes and i'm shatterin ur brain fewl

glad to see everything working out.

no point to get amps that put out big power if you can't supply it to them. not a big deal to me though, I'm running

Awsome, I hope to get me new alt sometime next week //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

So I take it you have no dimming with only 180A?

Is there a web site for the place you ordered from

the only reason why i ordered it from that place was due to limited options. you have to call them to see if they can do it.

http://www.mralternator.com but there are many more places too.

i have no dimming at all with 180 amps and again, my car drives soooo much better

well check them out when you get a second... it took 4 weeks to do my car b/c it was custom and i had to wait anyways considering that was the BEST deal

nice. still waiting to install my 200a. just sittin in my room //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

sounds good warren. I'm running a 120amper stock and only 700 of RMS so didn't need to worry about any upgradin time time. My old car did 1700RMS no problem with no dimming at all on a 120 but i never turned it up so i'm sure i wasn't actually getting anywhere near that level of power from it

I know there are other places, I was just curious what they would quote me.. I was planning to go with Excessive Amperage, and get a 220A for $320 shipped. Might look around a bit more though.
I would HIGHLY suggest another custom alternator company other than Excessive Amperage. There is indeed a reason that they only give a 3 month warranty and that's only if the thing ever works.

I am looking...Advance Auto Parts has them for my car but then run around $369, I get a 1 year warranty and plus it is a real store. Excessive Amperage would cost me around $220 + S/h. Irragi Alternators is in the next town over but I can't seem to find his number in the phone book, nor does he have a website that I could find.

Thanks for the review. Kinda convinced me to move the alternator higher up on the list. 85A just ain't cutting it anymore.
