well my tank has finally died. My family and I are talking to a friend that works at a dealership and so far hes found us cavaliers for over our price(6k max).Today he calls me and says that hes got a 2002 Saturn SC 1 with 110k miles. They want 5k for it. I blue booked it an it came up wiht 6.7k for the price. My tank only has 107k and its 11 years old. I really need something to last me through the last 2 yrs of my college. Is the car worth it? or should i keep working/looking?

Get a Caprice. The last forever with basic maintainance. and for 6k you can get a pretty nice one.

Mine's still running good at 216k miles. Motor hasn't been re-built yet either.

I have a friend that wants to sell a 94 GSR for like 5500...

i'd say go for the accord or civic, I personally like ford's but they do not last. If you want something to last awhile definately start looking for an import. American cars are more for power, while imports are much more efficient

Don't go with a Civic, ******* I hate those. You could get a nice used Volvo, will last forever, 100k miles on a Volvo is more like 10k miles on any other car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. I personally wouldn't get a Saturn, my dad had one and hated it.... Cheap looking (inside and out), no power, etc. It DID allow him to walk away from an accident that ended with him skidding down the highway at > 65 on his roof though.

Yeah saturns aren't great cars, but they're very safe, and have cheap insurance. I also don't think you'll have many reliability issues with it as well. I wouldn't go with a civic or an accord, its going to much older and have much higher mileage, and I guarantee you will have problems with it. The old volvo is also a good choice, friend of mine has an 88, thing runs like a freakin champ.

yeah man, if you want a good reliable car get a volvo. They last forever and are all around good car's...Check into the local DWI and State Marshall auctions....you can find hella good deal's their //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

If you're going Volvo, make sure it's an older one, definitely before 2000.

We've had problem and problem with our '03 V70...I love the way that car handles, but there always seems to be something going. Front torsion bars, electrical quirks, that sort of thing. I think the quality has gone downhill.

I got my 98 sebring lxi coupe for $5900 back in july. I bought it with 78,000 miles, and it now has 97,000 with no problems yet. I'm really happy with it. Mainly because of how nice it looks for the price. It has a small engine too so its pretty fuel efficient. 2.5 liter v6.

why the hell would you suggest him to buy an 88 anything, that's just not smart use of money. just go japanese
Haha, no one ever suggested him to buy a 1988 car. I simply stated my friend has one and it runs like a champ, hinting that they are very reliable cars. And i'm not sure how it wouldn't be smart use of money, an 88 volvo would probably run you like 500 bucks haha.

the next vehicle I'm looking at is a mid '70s import, and yes, they are still quite a value //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

well since you were making suggestions and he stated his budget i was just assuming everyone wanted him to spend his limit. i dont doubt taht theyre solid but dang, that's already almost twenty years old...
Did you completely misunderstand everything I said? I simply stated my friend has an 88 and its solid. I'm not trying to tell him to buy an 88 volvo, is this that difficult?

Volvo V70s have torsion bars? Wow...i would have never guessed
