New car for kid...?

For that price it would seem like a great buy. But if you're looking for vehicles around 2500 that should not be on the top of your list. I hate to say it, but a civic hatch should be right up there. Easy to work on if he wants to learn, Cheap, Great Mileage, etc. Or an older carolla... i could go on if you'd like.

Yea I've looked at the 626. They seem similar to the millenia with the leather and sunroof and all but I like the milly a little better. But doesnt the Grandam GT look like a much better buy for 400.00 cheaper then that? Not to mention theres lead way for negotiation. I can probally get him down to 900.
Millenia's were great cars. As were 626's. That was during a time period where mazda was thinking about branching out and starting a luxury division. The millenia was one of the vehicles that was supposed to jump start that era in their history.

i dont think that grand am has chrome wheels, it looks like it has plastic chrome looking hub caps, which sucks:(
mazda protege's are decent cars as well
If its a GT it should have alloy wheels of some sort.

Congrats on the Omni Fi, by the way. How do you like it?

Why shouldnt it be at the top of my list? It's allot cheaper then 2500. and hell of allot nicer then a civic hatch or anything like that. And it is a 6 cylinder for sure. It is the GT. Also he mentioned it is the high.output version whatever that means.

Other than the wheels, the car looks nice. Those hubcap looking wheels make me mad more than anything. Get something else on em and if you tinted it, would look nice, and this is coming from a 17 year old.

you keep trying to argue that you want to buy the grand am, but let me remind you of your first post...

I'm looking for a slower car that gets good mpg for him, but still looks nice.
the way you're defending the grand am, i'm under the impression that you really don't care WHAT kind of car it is, as long as it is a good deal.

i was going by the picture, it looks like black steelies with hub caps to me, but it is hard to tell

personally i would never buy a pontiac with over 100k miles no matter who owned it

imo if it was worth more and him being a mechanic, he would sell it for more, unless he is giving you a deal because he knows you. if he is wouldn't you feel bad buying it from him for a good deal, just to turn around and sell it for a profit?

the omnifi kicks ***, holds 30gb of music, best $100 i have spent on my system:)

I rarely see Grand Am's in complete 100 percent working order. The ones that do last are nice, but eh.

Test drive it. If it's the 3.8 the mileage won't touch a 4 banger's, and it won't be slow. It won't be sports car fast, but it won't be a slouch either.
