Hello All,,

I have gathered parts to start installing a system in my turd... And would like some advice on what else I should get/need to start the install.

Trud= 2000 Dodge Neon

I was going to buy a newer car but after talking to a few dealers (Donkey-Holes)!

And looking at a new Car payment from the BANKERS (Donkey-Holes)!

I decided I will fix up the Neon since it never let me down, Guys at work say you can't polish a turd! After hearing that I was for sure going to polish My-Turd. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

(New) All Struts-springs/Complete Brake system All new parts, Complete New Ac system All new parts, 2 New front seats New Carpet Kit Even Sanded the headlights... All this with buying the gauges Vac Pump Nice 3 ton Floor jack And a few other tools I am under 2G's And get to keep the tools!

Will now it's time to get why I joined this forum...

I have gathered some audio parts over the last few months and would like some input on what else I will need and the best way to install. I have done the BIG 3 with 0 gadge Welding cable And will also power my back battery/Amps, I plan on an infinite baffle so my amps can be flush mounted under a false floor.

Parts:

Qty - Item

(2) DB-Drive-A3PRO3000 2400-RMS-@4X1 1200RMS-@2X2

(1) DB-Drive-A4-4200 4Ch 400-RMS-X4@2

(4) DB-Drive-S760 (6x5) MAX POWER: 225 Watts Norm 75

(2) DB-Drive-S790 (6x9) Max Power: 250 Watts Norm 65

(2) DB-Drive-B350 (3X3 Max Power: 90 Watts Norm 60

(2) DB-Drive-Sister-co, Hypnotic-HD15D2 9000 watts tone burst 6000 watts max 3000 norm

(1) Battery in trunk With same specks as the Kinetik Hc3800

I have 225Ft Grace Ice Shild I will be sealing the whole trunk doors floor with.

Can I just turn the trunk into a ported box at 6.5-Sf And port it to 30 Hrz with a flared 9inch PVC pipe. As the speaker calls for a 3ft ported box with 7 inch port at 20 inches. I plan on sealing the trunk so tight it could be a nerve gas shelter.. 1 inch board for floor baffle and rear deck..

Sorry for a long post

i've thought about trunk "enclosures" before. i think you'd have to basically line the trunk with MDF, sheet metal will flex and you'll lose output. sealing an enclosure is only half of the work, making it stiff and non-resonant is really important. Dodge Neon sheet metal will never be stiff enough, it will flex and you'll lose output. but you could box out the trunk to obtain the volume you need. do you need rear seats? cuz your best bet would be to remove them and wall off the car. amps could go down where the seat bottoms were. you could fabricate some expanded metal and cover with fabric to make it look like there was a seat and protect/hide the gear.

ice shield won't deaden anything but it'll make the car heavier. deadening requires a viscoelastic and elastomeric product that converts vibration into heat. roofing products don't deaden, but they can be used to seal up the rear deck though. and the added mass will be better than nothing at all.

you're obviously set on DD-Drive. that's cool. what's your goal with speaker placement? keep in mind that any speakers in the rear deck need to be enclosed or the subs will just blow them out - literally. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks for the response...

I was looking at dynomat stuff and this roofing rubber looks to be a little thicker then dyno. It is the thickest of the product they make and its 1/8 inch rubber like what you patch a bike tire with. But I mostly bought it to seal the trunk...

I have been thinking about this for a month or so and I am worried about flexing also... That is why I was thinking of just turning the trunk into a ported box with the port going up into the rear deck. Port would be long enough to reach back of trunk with subs firing through the fold down back seat... I was thinking this may help release some of the stress flexes... I planned on boxing off the 6x9's under the deck...

Really need the rear seat as may have to drive the kidos around.

I am also installing a linner actuator on the center of the trunk lid not for show/coolness factor but this will pull down evenly on the trunk with about 75/100 Lbs of thrust to keep it sealed tight and solid...

Keep in mind I am 45 years old and going through mid life crises & Audio equipment is cheaper than a corvette! :0)

I have got great deals on the DB Stuff and find it to be very good stuff... For 40+ years I have been watching people argue over ford & Chevy and what is better... And I see the same in the forums on Audio equipment. All in all I am very pleased with what I have at the price I paid. And want to make it sound best as possible... Looking for SQ, And a little SPL.

If you're looking to do an IB setup then i'd suggest not getting DB Drive/Hypnotiq subs. I can almost tell u with certainty that those are not made for an IB setup. You might need too look into brands such as ID, Exodus, FI IB line of subs, Acoustic Elegance, etc.

Btw, is there a reason for going all DB equipment?

I have got great deals on the DB Stuff and find it to be very good stuff.. I have only found a few reviews that people dont care for them, When I first heard them I was blowen away buy the clean sound they put out, beat some JL's I have heard with same specks.. And I have 100 Lbs of sub sitting here that I wont ship back, So its what I have to work with..

Can you tell me why they will not make a good IB setup? Is it the Xmas? Or the vas? the Q's seam within reason..

But all in all I want to bulid a ported box out of my trunk.. So would that cancle out a IB setup? the specks call for a 6cf box to be tunned to 30Hz

After asking around a few people said that IB is misleading in the car auto field. And a 6cf of air space is 6cf air space. The only thing that changes the game is what the box is made of, and how it is constructed will change the sound dramatically. And a port can be installed as long as the rear waves change before it hits the front. But what is the biggest concern now is the flexing. As custom fiber boxes are also not as thick as wood and sound pretty good, But glass don't flex. I really don't want to line the whole trunk with fiberglass. Maybe a double coat of the stuff they line the back of truck beds with and then the tar mat would help harden the trunk?
