New 18" Fi BTL Design *PICS*

OMG thats a hella big port!!!

What are the dimensions of that port and of the box and whats teh tuning?

Chevy, so tuning the box to 29hz and changing to a long straight port and adding 17sqi.in" more of port area wont really change the way the bass sounds regardless of what type of music I play?

What about keeping the same tuning I have now, but just changin over to this design with the straight port?

Here's the (2) designs....

I would try adding some length to the port wall to get the tunning to 28hz before making a whole new box and whatnot.
I guess I can try that, but I don't think it's the fix I'm looking for.

Maybee this BTL just isn't made to hit the real low notes, My current box for my BTL is tuned at 31hz and it doesnt hit the lows like my old Type R 12's did which were tuned at 34hz in 5 cubes off of the same 2250rms amp. It just doesnt make sense. It's gotta be the design of the box. Any ideas guys?

I had subs up port back? try that. It got real low.

I myself would try 7.5-8 cubes tuned to 32 if you have the room.
Ya I can go bigger, I'm at 37width 26 depth and 19 height. I can go from 19 height to 24 for height, that would get me to 7.5-8 cubes.

So you think a bigger box will help with the lowend output?

LiL_KB showed me this design, It's sub up port back, I kinda want to go with a straight port since alot of experienced box builders say a straight port is the best type of port, but with my space this is the only way to do a CRX style box with proper tuning and port area.

It's 7 cubes @ 31 hz after sub displacement and 88.75 sq in of port 37 width, 26 depth and 21 height. Whatcha think, will this help more with the lowend I'm looking for?

One thing that worries me about this height and the sub up top is that the sub will be 8" away from where the roof and rear window meet. I'm going to take my current box and face it up this weekend to see how it sounds.

Well mine did have a straight port i dont know how much that matters. but it was alot smaller i had like 12 maybe less cubes for my 2 18 inch btls... And that was off a us amps md2d at 1 ohm so like 1500 watts. Still managed to shake shit as shown here.
