needing some advice on subs,the old JL vs RF arguement :P

I own a 92 Blazer, and this is what ive got so far

Dc Power 270 XP alternator (with big 3)

1 RF Power 1500-1

0 gauge cable for wiring upgrade (power wire/ ground , is currently 4 guage) ...lol

pushing some old volfenhags haha

Now on the the important stuff, i have a 3k+ budget still , but really not looking to go to crazy, other than HO boxes, i got the room, might as well

I plan on buying another RF Power t1500 and either

2 JL W7 13.5's

or

2 RF T2's 2010 15's

Im getting this professionally done, and my local place is a dealer for RF, JL, Alpine, and Pioneer

so im kinda stuck with those company's, but who really cares if they deal RF and JL..lol

Just looking for some hard hitting daily bass, and torn between which would perform better in a big ported box, powered by a t1500 to each woofer

personally i wouldnt go with either,

if you want to do something nice get 2 nightshade 12s from sundown, and either run the 2 rf 1500s or sell the 1 you have and get either 2 saz-1500ds strapped or a saz-3500d.

and regardless of what you do make sure you do some electrical upgrades, big 3 in 1/0, 1/0 power run to the back and at least 2 group 31 batts.

i wouldnt sell my RF amp lol, its does 1900 RMS at 1 ohm, so sense buying saz's , im just gonna pick up another RF, and like i said i got the electrical, all done in 0 gauge, and the run wire will be 0 gauge as well

plus im looking to get this system done, and i dont know of any sundown audio dealers in utah, so its out , like i said, JL and RF are most accessible to me

yea im steering farther and farther away from getting RF or JL in all honesty, im interested in XXX's as well as the night shades , any preference there ?

for what is worth, what SPL woofer would you choose, that takes 1600-2000 watts RMS

The XXX isn't really an SPL sub either. You can definitely do better in that regard for the money.

if you looking for a true bare bones spl sub a lot of the time its better to find a good motor and have one built.

dc lvl 5 motors come to mind.

so, Re, or Fi, or RF or any other companys subs is fair ball, i just dont really have the experience to get something built, i just need to make a decision on subs, everything else in the system is planned or is already bought

1- 270 AMP DC power xp series

2- RF power 1500-1 bd

Custom ported box, yet to be built, gonna get it done by dave the box guy (Home Page) he makes quality **** and works with customer to make the box you need

now all i need to know is, whats 12-15 inch subs to throw in, i mean i dont want a straight SPL sub, and i dont want a straight SQ sub, i want it capable of a little of both, ive heard good things about the XXX

the xxx will most likely do what you want, play clean but if you go with 2 15s your going to have plenty of cone area for it to be loud, just make sure you put them in the right box and dont make it too small just to fit 15s, if those dont work go with 12s in the correct box.

Everyone hates JL on here... Lol... I like the JL... I mean if you got the money why not dish it out? They definitely don't ****.. The only real argument I hear about them is the fact that they are expensive. I agree you can get better for a better price, but I still don't see any real flaws in it.

If I wanted SQ first and SPL was still somewhat important, Id get XXX...If I valued being loud more, I would get something like the Nightshades suggested, or even perhaps DC LVL 4xls...all are better then w7s and T2s...and if you only have the space for 2 12s, that is fine, any 2 12s of the subs suggested will be extremely loud on 3k
