I have this subwoofer.

Kenwood - 1000W Class AB Bridgeable 2-Channel Amplifier with Low-Pass Crossover - KAC-7205

Reading the specs of both (sub specs are kinda confusing) i found that the sub is like half powered because the amp only pushed 250 watts rms to a 2 ohm sub. So tomoro i am buy this amp from craigslist.( as long as you guys approve)

Alpine MRP-M500 Mono subwoofer amplifier — 500 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms at Crutchfield.com

So if my calcuations are correct the sub is only being pused at 250 watts when it handle 400 watts. Is this true? So getting this 500 watt alpine amp would be perfect and make it a lot louder right? a noticible difference? thanks for replys. BTW i

im buying it for 110 tomoro.

a better amp can easily be had for cheaper... but yes...putting 500 on it at 2ohm will work well

you'll be doubling your power so i think it would be noticeably louder.

didnt see the part bout you buying used... you can easily find better for that price used, IMO... i wouldnt pay more then 80 for it used

then tell him you dont want it and go buy something else online.

as reference there was a guy with an alpine mrp m1000 for 150 obo near me.

double the rms for 40 more bucks.

i'd say offer him about 75-80, no more than 90. if he doesnt take it, then let him sit on it!

oh and also can i use the same wiring im currently using for my current setup? like just unplug the kenwood and plug in the alpine? Also can some please look at the specs of both and confirm my statements in the first post? Really dont want to buy the wrong stuff again. lol.

From the amp you have the kenwood - Continuous Watts Bridged 500 = 500 rms "I'm guessing at 4 OHM's" so you dont need a new amp. BUT Continuous Watts per Channel (4 Ohms) RMS 170 x 2 Is where you should run it at. A voice coil per channel DON'T bridge it.

the ebay link to ur sub only says 2 ohm impedance. but the sub is dual voice coil so idk if its 2 ohm final or dual 2 ohm sub. if its dual 2 ohm, wire it up to 4 ohms and bridge your amp u have now.

no... do not run each voice on seperate channels... bad results can occur from this

if the sub is dual 2 ohm, series wire it to 4 ohms and bridge your kenwood to it and youll get 500rms to your sub.

I think 6 or 8 gauge wiring. Not sure but the box sayed 680 watts i know that for sure. So im good on the wiring but i just wana make sure this is all true and i need this amp.

and your sub is dual voice coil, so what is being asked, is if each coil is 2 ohm?
