New to site and need some help with sub choice. I just bought a '08 Silverado Crew Cab with a SubThump single 12" sealed box and currently has a Kenwood KFC-W3012 in it and I am definitely not happy with it. I have a hair less than 6.75" of mounting depth and .95 air space before sub and it doesnt have any filler but could get some if need be. To power it i have a 600w Infinity Ref mono block. I also have ID CTX65 Components and a Pioneer 4200dvd deck and listen to everything....I would say rock and rap more than anything else. I am more into SQ but want something that can hit low and fast and sound great doing it.

I have been looking at RE SRX, RE ***, IDQ 12, Fi SSD, Audiopulse Epic 12, Sundown SA-12, and SSA Icon 12. Problem is that I am traveling so much I dont have time to go listen to any of them.

Budget wise I would like to stay under $300. So.....what do you all think would work best for me? Or what would you pick if you were me? Anything I forgot to mention?

Thanks for the help!

The box isn't real big, especially after you put a sub in it.

I think the Icon would work well for you from what I've been looking at. That's just from reading though. Are you stuck on that box, any reason you couldn't build a bigger/better one?

edit: I was remembering the 10 icon, the 12 would probably need more space. I've read a lot more good about the Fi Q than SSD, and it could work in that box.

Thanks for the help.

RLJ676,

That box came with the truck and from looking there is a lot of options. It is actually made extremely well and give more space than any other bought box. I played around with the idea of building a box but in that truck that is the max in mounting depth that I could ever achieve and the only way I could get more air space would be to build one that took up the full underneath of the back seat and would leave me with no room to put my amps except under each front seat and I dont really want people in the back being able to put there feet all over them.

If you have any other ideas on a box I am open to hear them. Also, I have read a lot of great stuff about the Fi Q and the Epic but didnt know if anyone on here had used either in a under seat truck box. Thilo, from Audio Pulse said that he has heard a few in boxes even smaller than mine and they sounded great with some poly fill / insulation in them.

Thanks for the help.

Here's a similar build where a guy put in 2 12's under the rear seat. http://www.caraudio.com/forum/car-audio-build-logs-cars-trucks-suvs/472081-01-silverado-going-2-12-s.html

I'm thinking of doing something similar in my truck, I think those MB subs are at woofers etc for real cheap. He says they sound better than his old Fi BL.

I don't have too much experience with modern subs, but all the ones you've listed are most of the ones I've read good things about and are considering myself other than the RE's. I have a SDC2.5 10 right now, but am looking to upgrade for my car, might just throw it in my truck.
