NEED some OPINIONS w7 vs L7

the thing is... the jl boxes are designed to deliver the best performance of the subs, so it doesn't matter what car its in, that sub is doing its job as good as it can, that said, from cars to suv's to vans jl's prefabs sound better than most people will be able to build a box, they might not be designed around the application but when the performance of the sub is optimal the difference in application is little enough to be neglected, the HO. wedge is worth the money for me... as far as the prowedge, you can make a box just as good knowing the dimensions and save some money
This post isn't quite as offensive as many of your other ones, but I still have to call you out on it. The HO Wedge with a 12W7 costs $1000 on woofersetc.com, and carries an MSRP of almost $1600. If you think that box is worth a $400-$600 premium over an already overpriced woofer, you are beyond the help of God Himself.

the reason i said that is because the construction of the box isn't very easy to do yourself and it's a **** good box, gets way so loud with good sq better than the spec ported box more than 3 dbs!!

However, if you can somehow get dealer cost on an HO Wedge, it might not be a terrible buy. A friend of mine has a buddy who works at a JL dealer, and got a pair of W3s and a 500/1 for a pretty good price.

Bottom line: If you are truly interested in a W7 and can find a deal that brings the price of the HO Wedge within the price range of the sub and a normal box, go for it. Personally, I don't consider the W7 to be worth the price on its own, let alone in the HO Wedge enclosure. There are many other options out there that can produce better performance for less money.

woofersetcs msrp's are over-exadgerated... i've never seen a 1000/1 go for more than 1100.00 retail and they have it going for 1221.99... i got mine new for 560.00

beside that, retail for a 12w7 is usually 800-900 so ur geting the box on woofers etc fer 100-200 bucks, THAT is a good deal

I'm sure it wouldn't be a very easy box to design. But I can guarantee that you could get a box from one of the more reputable builders on here (ToxicTuan comes to mind) that would give you the same or better performance for less money.

To the more knowledgeable people out there: Am I right in assuming that the JL HO Wedge is a chamber-coupled T-line?

man this guy is so biased

the install (box/location) is much more meaningful then the woofers. if you dont believe that, then everyone should be hitting 150 with type r 10's like Tommyk90 using the alpine box if they have one, or even better, hitting the very high 140's with an L7 8 using a kicker prefab box.

now u puttin words in my mouth... i said the HO. wedge for the w7 nothing about kicker or alpine

First of all, the HO Wedge is still a $400 premium over what you CAN get the W7 for (based on woofersetc prices). That is NOT a good deal.

Secondly, what you posted on the 1000/1 is not much of an exaggeration. Just because the dealers choose to sell it for whatever price, doesn't mean that the MSRP isn't still $1200. That's why they call it the Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price. JL sells the products to the dealer at the same price no matter how much the dealer marks it up.

Also, since you have shown in many other threads, you seem to have a very limited and flawed knowledge of car audio, I would like to know where your info on JL products comes from. Somehow I doubt that much of what you have said about the HO Wedge is accurate.

yes you are right in your assumption... the transmition line starts at the bottom of the baffle board and wraps all the way aound the bottom, back, and top of the box where it is coupled with the primary output at the top of the baffle

what about what i have said about the HO is questionable? my info is not from 1 specific source or even limited to "internet articals and forums" like some people on here's are my dad and grandfather both own a HO wedge

There ya go.

There ya go.
thats just experience, generally the coupled output produces much more than the ordinary ported design, actually sometimes more than 5 db's but i desided 3 was a safer number since avoiding criticism has to be a concern on this forum for your opinion to be considered valid, all it takes is a misspelled word or a mixed up thought for people to call you an idiot... most people on here are looking for flaws of others to hold on to so that they can act more knowledgeable themselfs, instead of focusing on the arguement or subject matter, they focus on how clever they can be it their "flames"... this is immature, unnecessary, an uncouth in all degree's and situations... dissagreeing with someone is one matter, but using a dissagreement as an excuse to start an internet pissing match is inexcuseable...

I may be wrong, but I hold the expreince you claim here suspect. Simply because of the gross misinformation I've seen you spreading throughout other threads. This may be the exception to the norm, but most of the "experience" you've shown on this forum has been laughable. If I am mistaken here, I apoligize. However, I still doubt that you have compared the W7 and the HO Wedge to many other woofers and other properly made boxes of similar design.
